Hi ladies, so I finally got my henna, amla, indigo, shikakai powders and began my delve into Ayurvedic hair care.
On the 17th I had my first henna experience, I loved it. My SO hated the smell :nono: while it was in but it was tolerable to me. At anyrate, I have pics on my fotki!!! Yay! :drunk: :drunk:
I'm definitely feeling the difference and will continue with the treatments, bi-weekly for now until I can purchase some tarps or something to prevent staining as this is a pretty messy process. I'm elated and wanted to share my joy and thank all the beautiful ayurvedic ladies of this forum that have helped to inspire me and others to try this route.:spinning: :yep:

Oh I also use my amla powder mix for my face too. Indian powders have such great benefits to hair and skin. :lick:
Does anyone know where I can get some good amla, vatika, and coconut oils from????

Hi hair twin! Oh yes a wonderful experience, I recommend anyone to try it at least once, ensuring they do some good deep conditioning treatments and don't mix protein treatments with it!

Its okay to stalk my fotki...

(whispering: I do it to a few others too)

Congratulations on your first henna and welcome to the Henna-Lovers Club! :trampolin Your hair looks absolutely wonderful! HHG

I'm SO glad you enjoyed the henna - do you plan on henna'ing biweekly? if so, keep a close eye on your hair to insure the henna isn't overloading it - I'd hate to have you back here in two months wondering where the breakage is coming from.....

You should be able to get all three oils from Amazon, if you can't find them in a local store. Coconut oil you should be able to find at almost any 'ethnic' or health food store...

Congratulations on your henna experience, I put a health food store bought henna in my hair over a month ago and my experience was horrible. I didn't know that all hennas are not the same. I will have to do more research to find a good henna that will not leave grains even after 3 or 4 washings.

FromNatureWithLove.com - I love their henna, it's the smoothest/finest I've found..... I buy a lot at one time (their shipping is funky), and store it in the freezer.

Im so glad u enjoyed the henna ...Welcome to the club:grin:
Ur hair looks thicker and healthier ur doing a good job.:yep:

Oh and for the amla oil/vatika oil/ and coconut oil question ...
I get my coconut oil from fromnaturewithlove its call organic virgin coconut crewm oil and its splendid I love that stuff.
I make my own amla oil and I dont use vatika so I cant be of much help there.

What is the purpose of storing it in the freexer?...I just started using these powders but I didn't know I needed to keep them in the freezer...thanks

Yay! Another henna fan!!! I love henna too!!! Your hair looks great! I use jamila too, though I'm a bigger fan of the yemeni - but unfortunately this year's crop was not as good as last year's crop:cry3:. So glad it worked for you!

Thank you all for the comments. I must give LHCF the props because through it is where I gained the interest for henna and ayurvedic products. MissMadam is who's fotki I first saw with henna and her hair is absolutely gorgeous.

I think I am going to do henna monthly, not bi-weekly because I don't want to overdo it or cause unneccessary setbacks.
I haven't heard of yemeni, I used Jamila because it was actually at my local grocery store back on the islands. Now that I'm stateside I have been looking for other options as far as providers. I found a website www.HennaSooq.com that is where i got my amla, shikakai, and indigo powders from. They are very helpful, they send a small info guide that tells all the benefits of the powders and oils and how you can choose to use them. That is how i learned that the amla powder can be used on your face and body.:drunk::drunk::drunk:
