Hey y'all.

I usually don't post on this part of the board, but I was really bored yesterday after washing my hair and started looking through people's albums. I saw some braidouts. I kind of wanted to try one. After I washed my hair I put Elasta QP Mango Butter on it and was letting it airdry. It had been drying for about an hour when I decided to try the braid out. I don't know how to braid, so I just put my hair in six plaits and hoped for the best. I let it dry for 6 hours, but the back was still wet. I took the plaits out anyway. Do y'all think that it turned out well?

Yes it did. I suggest you get perm rods for rolling the ends. You'll have even more awesome results.
Thumbs up to you

To anyone in general, what are perm rods? Are they like magnetic rollers?

Looking good MissJ!

Looks like you didn't get much shrinkage from your braids either.
Your hair will be waist length soon!

Perm rods are a type of rollers that have a rubber band and a cap that fits into the only hollow end of the cylinderical roller. it is called a perm rod because it used generally for rolling perms and getting spiral curls.

WOW MissJ...that looks beautiful...you can try starting the braids a little higher up for a fuller look if you want.

It looks great MissJ! I can't believe how long your hair has gotten. You must be taking really good care of your hair.

Your braidout looks great, and your hair is beautiful too!

My first attempt at a braidout was not a pretty thing...

I will try some of these tips when I gain a few more inches.

Very well done, MissJ. And your hair sure looks a lot longer than I remember.

Keep up the good work.

It came out really nice. I did my first braid out last week. I put pics of it in my album. I will do them more often. I love the free feeling that it gives.

I agree -- looks great, you have no frizzies!! I agree that you may want to try rolling the ends.

From which website do you link your photos?

Your braid-out looks nice. This is how I wear my hair everyday. I don't use rods however, I do put either vaseline or castor oil on the ends and twist them together and curve upward. Then I put my skull cap on to hold the ends in place. This gives a nice little curl at the ends. Keep up the good work!

It looks great!

What I do for my ends are:

1) apply a light oil to them
2) use end papers (folded in half) on each plait
3) roll each plait with those teeny weeny magnetic rollers (with covers)

Thanks for the compliments and thanks for the advice!

I think the Mango Butter is what helped it not be so frizzy. I just love that, especially because of the smell! Also, as you can see my hair grows in that V-shape, too. I kinda like it.

I start working again tomorrow, so I'll have a new way to wear my hair!

L.Mo., I have my pictures uploaded onto the account that I had when I was in school. I don't know how long I'll have it, though, since I've graduated and just work there now.

I agree! Looks good!

Absolutely lovely for a first attempt.

Start the braids up higher on the head and use perm rods on the ends.
