My fake shingling results...

The curls are really nice, but like someone suggested rod or bantu's might make up for the different textures. Girl I would just get a wider headband or play it all off - work it like you just don't know :D Attitude can change how things look.

I didn't use the real shingling method (the one with using a comb and all that) all I did was use my hands to smooth the product (Fantasia IC gel and my leave in spray and conditioner) I have yet to figure out what to do with the top of my head because it's a totally different texture that waves and doesn't curl if anyone can suggest something I would appreciate it anyway here goes

I told yall the front was jacked I can't do nothin with the top of my head...

I love it! To the bolded: looks like you may still have a small bit of relaxed hair on the ends you may need to trim off. I remember when I transitioned my hair wouldn't curl right until all of the relaxed stuff was off.

I'll give it a few months before I cut it again because that part does wave with sharp s zig zags that's why I don't think it's still some permed ends left. But thank ya.

you know, most of my relaxed hair curls/coils up. It could be that those straight parts are still texlaxed ends left?

Please do let us know what you find out in a couple of months.

Yea, keep waiting...my hair seemed to get curlier as time went on...even though all of the relaxed ends were off.

Looks great! You did a really good job.

I find the straighter/wavier hair in the front thing to be really interesting. I have this problem too even though I am not natural. But as my hair grows I have noticed more texture at the roots. Like some of the other ladies I have cut this part of my hair shorter (that made it look and blend much better) and I use setting lotion because this is the only thing that encourages the hair there to curl up.

I agree with MSA about the manipulation of these area making it different. Especially because I see more texture at the roots, I'm inclined to believe that although I had cut of all my old processed ends I still had hair left over from when my hair practices weren't as good as they are now.

After chopping some ends I think that might be the culprit for the most part once I get more length I'll see how it ends up being.

Also I updated the first page with my 2nd attempt with a diff product.

very nice!! OMG the front of your hair looks EXACTLY like my sides. those blasted sides would NOT curl for me, its just fuzz and now that its growing out they just kinda 'stand' there unless its twisted.
did you go under a dryer? I really want to try some version of this 'shingling' thing but if I MUST go under a dryer then that just makes it a special occasion style rather than a weekly one..

No dryer i just let it dry throughout the day but you could always go over it with a handheld dryer for a couple of minutes if you dont want to let it air dry...ive done that with my reg fro but didnt fully dry it most of the time i go out my hair is damp.
