I didn't use the real shingling method (the one with using a comb and all that) all I did was use my hands to smooth the product (Fantasia IC gel and my leave in spray and conditioner) I have yet to figure out what to do with the top of my head because it's a totally different texture that waves and doesn't curl if anyone can suggest something I would appreciate it anyway here goes

before how it is normally...

I observed that it worked better by having your hair wet like freshly sprayed with whatever leave in as opposed to just using the wax on slightly damp hair this way my hair stayed curly and didnt just turn into a straight line I also took the advice and started chopping the top of my head I think I might still have some more permed ends up there but ill search and destroy those later overall I am satisfied with this stuff and it's cheap. My hair is still super soft but kinda oily to the touch but these pictures do not do it justice believe that lol its hot! I would leave it overnight but I'm a cowash freak and gonna have to wash this stuff out.

That's really cute! Especially the back and sides. I had the same issue in my natural days...you could always set the top on the teeny tiny perm rods to get a curly effect.

I love it! wow, the front is a COMPLETELY different texture from the rest of your hair. Are you sure there is no more relaxed ends?

Looks great!

The front of my hair is wavy/fuzzy, unlike the rest of my hair. I realized that the front is always getting smoothed out/down by headbands or being pulled back. I've made a conscious effort to stop doing that as much (especially on wet hair) and it's helping some. My curl has come back a bit and the new growth is staying curly.

I know right! When I did the BC I was cutting off the natural hair because I thought it was still some permed parts left but it wasn't...that part just does a wave let me take a picture real quick.

See what I mean

the tiny little curls are cuteness:drunk:

Thanks I was thinking about dyeing it but I read somewhere on here that the dye can change your natural texture so I haven't done it.

This is your natural hair color/colors?:blush:Awesome!

That turned out really nice. My hair grows in straight in the front so I have he same issue. I have 3 different textures so I don't wear it out a lot but I think I might try this.

The curls are so cute, so is the color. My hair was weird like that when I BC'ed. I have 3c in the front & sides, 4a in the crown and back, and then 3b at the nape. Maybe getting a cute cut to kind of layer the curls will help. Your hair looks fine, just pick it out in the front and trim the looser parts to blend.

I like that. I may have to try it because that shingling process looks to be too long.
Your glasses are the cutest.
Maybe for the front you should try a quick twist out while you're doing the rest of your hair to give it definition.

Very cute.

Your texture looks a lot like mine but whenever I try to shingle the only thing I get is frizz even though my hair is really curly.

Girl, I am loving your hair!!! It has grown out so much!!! You are a real inspiration to me cause just this morning I had the nerve to think about a relaxer!!! Your hair is very much like mine as far as the texture. I can't wait until mine gets to your length. What eles is good to shingle with is the Pantene Hydrating curls cond. But I purchased the wrong one, I have the pantene curls cond. But it works just as well. The only thing with that is you don't rinse it out. Also, it's best to brush and comb it through to cover all the hair. The downside to using the pantene is if you only wash yr hair once a week it tends to make your hair look dry. But other than that try that and see if you like it. Hawiian Silky 14 n 1 is another alternative you can try as well.:yep:

I've seen some ladies with the same issue use protein treatments to help correct it.

The protein reinforces your hair bonds, so natural hair is usually more textured afterwards - thats why protein right after a relaxer can cause it to "revert". The added protein gives the suppressed curlies the strength to fight back!

Maybe you could try an aphogee just on the front part and see if it helps?

I used Ovation ^^ but my hair has been this way since the BC so I'm thinking there was never a real curl there to begin with. But I'll try some K-pak later. Thanks!

I lub your hair! I have been trying to convince myself to do this to my own hair to get more definition and smoothness..but I am so lazy. I almost died doing my twistout. I have that same issue with the front of my hair...but not quite as straight. I kept cutting it and now it's 1/2 inch shorter than the rest of my hair. DOH! What one person said about the headband thing does make sense. If anything the fact that i flatten it almost daily surely can't be helping the less curlyness. Hope you figure it out. :)

Your front looks like 4B. That is how my 4B hair looks if I try to shingle or use any of these 4A methods. It gets straight instead of curling. That is way a texlax wouldn't work for me because my hair would get straigt instead of curly. My hair doesn't wave at all. Like, if I put gel on it and brush it back,it gets straight. My daughter is a 4B and she gets waves.
