MY April HYH Challenge Resport Reveal!

Thank you everyone for the compliments! You guys are sooooooo sweet!

I posted my regimen in my about me section of my fotki, but I'll copy it here:

I have created somewhat of a regimen, however it is not very rigorous and it's just a skeletal outline.

Daily:
I wet wash (using only water) or co-wash (using only conditioner) basically everyday. If I want lots of definition, I leave it drippling wet out of the shower, and I put in Ms. Jessie's Curly Pudding to keep the curls elongated and defined, then I put Miss Jessies buttercreme on my ends, hairline, and nape area for moisture. I play with it a little with my hands, tie on a headband/scarf, and I go. Because of the thickness of my hair, it never seems to dry (during the course of the entire day!) so I'm normally still a little damp near the scalp when I go to bed.

If I want to have a really moisturized fro, then I wash my hair, squeeze out excess water, and towel blot before I apply moisturizer. It seems counterintuitive that when you leave your hair dripping wet then moisturize it tends to dry out, but it you dry your hair then moisturize it says nice all day. But it does make sense. When hair is dripping wet the strands are saturated with water and moisturizer is unable to penetrate. So if your finding your hair to be dry no matter what, try towel blotting, or airdrying before you moisturize.

Another great moisture trick I learned from LHCF was after I let my hair dry a little I put on my moisturizer (which is currently Luster's S-Curl Activator and Moisturizer). I then put on a shower cap for at LEAST 10 minutes. I try to do this fresh out the shower, after I towel blot, so that I can get ready while it penetrates. This ensures that the moisture is being taken in by my hair and not just evaporating. Once you remove the cap, you'll see a notable difference. Then I use an oil to seal in the moisture. I like the cheap little $0.99 mini-oil bottles you can get from the local Korean Beauty shops. I use the shea butter oil, or a cocoa butter oil. This seals in the moisture my hair just absorbed and Im set for the day.

Weekly
I wash my hair once a week with Elucence MB Shampoo. It smells nice, and I really need a moisturizing shampoo since my hair tends to be dry. I think I might be switching back to KeraCare soon though, because I want to try something new (I used it to do my flat iron for the reveal!). I condition with Lustra Silk's Shea Butter cholesterol deep conditioner with ginseng. That stuff did wonders for my hair moisture wise, texture wise, and for detangling. I like leaving conditioner on overnight, but only once a month because of buildup. I deep condition (for 30min to 1hr) weekly though.

Monthly
I clarify monthly. I use Aloe Rid Shampoo by ORS. I also like the Creme of Nature gentle clarifier. I also (as I said before) like to leave conditioner on overnight once a month. I usually do it after I clarify to give my hair the added boost of moisture lost. This doesnt work for all, but its worked for me. Some ppl claim that doing so can harm the hair, but my hair is thriving this way, and scientifically considering the ingredients in conditioners and the makeup of the hair shaft (im a bio geek) I see no problem with the extra time.

Trims
I have no set schedule for them. I trim as needed.

Protein treatments.
Unless Im shedding badly I don't do these. I get enough protein from my diet.

That's all I have for now!! with love,
~amara~

PS-danysedai, you don't know how bad I needed to hear that comment today! Hugs :)
