when you are not satisfied with their products!
i'm not sure about anyone else, but in the economic times that we are living in, every little penny for me counts! and if have to spend that 'little' penny, i want to be satisfied with my purchase.
well, with this particular products, i wasn't satisfied. The product was Pantene's Natural and Relaxed for women of color line. I first located it in a Sister to Sister magazine. The ad was giving a 'challenge' for women of color to use this product for just one month and you would see a difference in your hair. Well, curiosity got the best of me, and i decided to try the challenge. I went to the bss and bought pretty much the whole line; the shampoo, conditioner, intensive conditioner, conditioning mask, and the oil moisturizer. One thing the ad was correct about, i did indeed see a difference in my hair(and it didn't take a month).
i purchased my products on July 14 '09(i always write down in my hair journal anything new i'm trying on my hair), and for my first try it was okay. then i after a few uses, i started noticing a lot of shedding, then i noticed a bald spot in my temple area. then came the soreness and itching. finally i decided to research this product yesterday,i thought i would be simple, find a few words, maybe some reviews on it. but was i ever surprised!! low and behold, i found a whole website!! a whole website of sistas who were or had experienced the same things i was who had used this product.
Well for me , 'blogging' about it just wasn't going to satisfy me. i wanted to do more. so i sat down, located that pantene website, scrolled down to thier 'contact us' option and found a way to email them. i made sure that i included as much info in my email as i could i.e. when i made my purchase, what happened to my hair, how my hair felt and looked, and about the soreness and itchiness that i was experiencing. i informed them of what products i had purchased, how much i had paid for them, and i requested a refund of the money that i spent(this was yesterday evening when i did this).
Well, i decided to check my email today, and the company responded. at first they give this whole spill about what their product does 'not' do to people's hair, and all of this crap, no less standing up for their product. then they did agree to refund me for two of my products(i will be getting a refund check in about 2-3 weeks), then they requested for me to send them the remaining of the products(which i'm going to do along with the ad in which i first found out about it, pictures that i took of the balding spot in temple, the hair in my sink(a sink full) and i took a picture of glob of hair in the middle of my hand as well. i'm also going to send them the blog that i visited too, so that they can see that this is something that just 'happend' to me--maybe if they see so many other women that this has happend to that will convince them that it is indeed their product). then they stated that once i send them all of the products, they will further compensate me and reimburse me my cost of postage as well!!
so i say to any of you sister out here that are using this product(or any product that causing this kind of reaction) SPEAK UP!! let these companies know! and on top of that request a refund of your hard earned money as well. we work too hard for our money, and to have healthy hair, to just sit back and allow these companies to get away with pocketing our hard- earned dollars and getting rich. If a product gives you dissatisfaction, don't just throw it away......keep it! yes, keep it! along with your receipt of purchase, and take a moment to sit down and write or email these companies and let them know what's up!!(my advice would be to email or write them, because they may want for you to send them the remaining product for reimbursement, and you may have to include a reference # to get your refund). they claim that customer satisfaction is important to them, right?? then let them show it! let them reimburse you for dissatisfaction as their customer.
i'm glad that i took a moment to contact Pantene and let them know my dilemma, if not, how will they ever know?? sometimes it's not enough to sit on a hair board, or form a blog to just discuss things with each other, sometimes action is required!! if your dissatisfied and you feel like writing, start sitting down and writing these companies. times are too hard to keep allowing them to get away with getting rich off of our dissatisfaction.
be blessed
