for me I didn't have too many trouble as long as I laid off the heat. The only reason I cut is because I couldnt take looking at the relaxed ends anymore when my kinks were looking so lush and inviting I co washed a ton during my transition, used heat every 6-8 weeks, and rocked a ton of twist outs. I also kept my hair properly moisturized as much as possible. Of course I combed only when my gaiter was wet and loaded with leave in or conditioner. If you have any other questions shoot me a pm
