MTG- Suggestions on how to mask the smell??

cedarwood oil worked for me. but, once i bought a perfume oil from a natural food store. I wasted it on my desk about 6 months ago, and I still smell it. The base was some essential oil, so I am is doing an okay job of masking the MTG scent, but I still do smell the woodsy smell.

yea I tried peppermint essential oil and vanilla extract too, and its still super strong. I couldn't sleep good cuz everytime I moved, I smelled that awful crap. I washed my sheets and pillow cases and they still smell. .

I want to try that mango/odor neutralizer, but none of the stores sell it near me.
I'm determined to find a way to neutralize the smell.......I'll let yall know what I come up with.

That's hilarious. My reaction to the MTG 'aroma' exactly. In answer to whoever asked earlier, I don't mix the mango or shea butter neutralizer with the MTG. I use it per the directions on the bottle, which are to shake the bottle and spray directly onto the hair/scalp. The oils in this stuff are really moisturizing. I wore a braid out/big ole afro puff today ala SweetCincyBrown and I didn't smell the MTG at all. BTW, I started using MTG two weeks agoat 3 weeks post relaxer and I have 1 - 1.5 - 2 inches of new growth, depending on the area. My usual growth by 5 wks is anywhere from .5 - 1.5 inches. My hair is approximately 4 inches from bra strap. It seems that I just might have it by the time I relax at 12 weeks.

I washed my sheets and pillow cases and they still smell. I haven't used it since, but I know it works cuz it smells just like glovers. My mom mixed up some glovers and petroleum jelly for me to use back in 7th grade when I started getting relaxers (my hair was snappin off so bad then). Anyway, after greasing my scalp with it, the next morning before school she would spray right guard deoderant in the air over my head...to keep it from smelling so strong(that -ish didn't work). I did experience faster hair growth, but my classsmates where always sayin they smelled gasoline, or askin if somethin was burning. So I stopped using it. I guess I just have super sensitive senses cuz to me the stuff smells like *&^$.

Ha,ha! Whenever I used Glover's and someone asked me if I smelled something I'd always say no or that my nose was clogged up due to allergies.

Have a nice day.

I don't know that the smell of MTG can be completely masked without over-diluting it. I found that there's a health-food store within 5 min. of my dorm and I purchased some essential oils there. I found some really good smelling stuff--like honeysuckle (loved that), gardenia, mango...but all those were 6+ dollars for half an ounce.

I settle for a cheapie brand in lime and orange. The lime is REALLY strong, and the orange adds a nice citrus-y undertone. Tonight's the first night I'm trying the mix. Right now, the oil scents are really coming out, but it still smells like I been in front of a grill at Benihana all day...hopefully in the morning the MTG smell will dissipate some.

LOL hey ladies! I finally got my MTG a week ago and went to the Natural Foods Grocery Store by my house to buy some essential oils. I bought peppermint and Sweet Orange :D . Hopefully this can help with the smell b/c I am tired of smelling like bbq wood chips everytime I turn my head or try to go to sleep....

**I'll check backlater and let ya'll know about how the concoction worked!

ok ladies,

I did some mixin and have been successful in getting rid of that horrible smell. Check it out:

1.) Combine approx. 5 tablespoons of aloe vera gel with
approx. 2 teaspoons of MTG

2.) Stir vigorously till it becomes an opaque and creamy consistancy

3.) Then add approx. 1-2 teaspoons of Queen Helene Mango and Cocoa Butter Hand and body lotion (1.99 from walmart)

4.) Stir well for 3 minutes

It actually smells good now and the cream feels so good on the scalp.
You may have to play with the measurements a lil.....I just approximated. Let me know how you like it.

Thanks for the ideas ladies:)

Thanks!

I mixed my mgt with aloe vera and essential oil cloves. I used a hand mixer and it came out like whipped butter. I can still smell some of the mgt but it is not unbearable. I made a lot so I put some in a jar and the rest in the refrigerator. I think the aloe will help my ends.
Peace and Blessings
