Motions Hair Advice....

I've been reading through some of the information on their site. I don't personally agree with everything they say. They say that black women should not wash their hair more often than every 4 days. I wash mine every three days and my hair is thriving from it. They also have a treatment for hair breakage which calls for not shampooing your hair for 32 days, massaging the motions cpr into your hair every 4 days as you would a shampoo, leave it in for 15 minutes, rinse well, apply motions foaming wrap and motions oil sheen to your hair and dry and style as usual and use motions hairdressing every morning. There are some more steps following.

I know this must work for a lot of women if they can recommend this treatment. It wouldn't work for me. Just proves the point that what works for one person won't work for everyone.

Girl, you are so right!

I didn't read all the info, I just posted it. But I rinse "wash" my hair every day. So I can't go for 32 days without washing my hair, not now anyway.

I did notice one thing that they said about washing that I disagreed with, and it's funny that these Mr. John's, D. Low's and Motions all seem to think "moisture" is bad.

I am almost tempted to believe that they are relying on the old advice that many of us have heard in our lives, without trying to actually research.

You would think they'd encourage us (well D. Low and Motions) to wash daily so we can use up more of their product! LOL! /images/graemlins/grin.gif lemme stop.

I'mmo go back and read over some of the advice. But yeah, I don't agree with no washing for 32 days myself! Couldn't do it.

Tara, one person asked if it would be o.k to put a no-lye relaxer in their 3 year old daughter's hair! /images/graemlins/shocked.gif They recommend that you wait until the child is 5! I really think that's too young for a relaxer. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

girrrrl! Eyes rolling onto the floor, shaking head.....

I should write them, I wonder what they would say? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

oops, my bad! I gotta take something back /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just read the "don't wash for 32 days thing" it looks like to me, all they are saying is to do a conditioner wash for 32 days.

And I've already been doing that for 120 days so....LOL!

/images/graemlins/blush.gif blush, blush. I didn't read it until now. But now that I've read it, it's nothing we all haven't already been doing on this board /images/graemlins/grin.gif

My whole problem with that is using motions cpr every 4 days. If I did that, I would only see hair on other people's head. That treatment could not work for me. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

LOL! I feel you on that!

I actually did something similar to what they are suggesting back in '01. But I was on the Cathy Howse Regime, so I mixed oils etc. in there. I noticed my hair improved.

But I do understand what you mean about the CPR. I just like to get what I can from advice, I take the product recommendation with a grain of salt.

For example, I couldn't use the Oil Sheen spray, or the wrap lotion, LOL! So I understand what you mean /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah! I used the Motions wrap lotion and lost a lot of hair. I didn't like it at all. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Has anyone actually used some of the shampoos listed.

I have the neutralizing and the CPR shampoo, but has anyone had experiences with any of the others like lavish etc?

Hey Londondiva,
Lavish was the first shampoo that I used (since starting my healthy hair regime in Sept). I am happy with this product. I have achieved tons of body & volume since using Lavish. I've recently began alternating Lavish with Creme of Nature. I get the same results from both; actually, Creme of Nature may have more "slip" to it. HTH.

God Bless,
Peachtree

LondonDiva, I use the Lavish Conditioning Shampoo and I love it. It leaves my hair incredibly soft. Coupled with the Moisture Plus Conditioner (I know BrownRelaxedHair is also a fan of this) and the Nourishing Leave in Conditioner, I've got myself a great regime!

I could not do the conditioner only wash, as they advocate on their web site. I read somewhere that this works best on women who use only light oils on their hair. Since I use Wild Growth, ORS Carrot Oil and PCA Moisture Retainer (at different times), my hair would be a limp mess with tons of build up after 32 days.

[/ QUOTE ] 5 is really too young. My friend who was a Chem major said that you really shouldn't relax until after puberty hits. I also didn't agree w/ some of their advice. I think they're a lil too old school!
