Motions CPR Hairdressing

Beauty and Fashion Junkie
ok my hair normally grows about 1/3 of an inch per month. Actually to be more exact, I get my hair relaxed every 3 months and it grows about 1 inch. But since I have been consistently been using this hairdressing, my hair has been growing about 3/4 inch per month. In fact, after I get my hair relaxed my hair doesnt grow for about 2 weeks, but it has only been 8 weeks since my last relaxer and my hair has grown about 1.5 inches and 2 inches in some parts! I dunno if this is because of the grease-- it has been the only change I have made, but i am gonna use this stuff religiously. I already LOVE the entire CPR line-- I have the shampoo and treatment, but this stuff is definetly the best. I just wanted to let you guys know, since you help me out soo much! Hope it helps!

How often do you use the CPR? You have to be careful that in the long run it doesn't dry your hair out as it's protein. What grease are you using on your hair?

Congratulations on your hair growth by the way. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

diva, i dont think she was referring to the conditioner as we know it...perhaps a whole range of CPR has come out??

on a different note, i wasnt impressed with the CPR conditioner, it made my hair hard and really tangled EVEN after the moisture plus deep conditioner. think i will stick to the aphogee every six weeks! /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Pandora are you talking about the conditioner in the tub with the herbs in it?

I know that they have a shampoo, cause I use that one too. I'm not sure if there is anything else in the CPR line.

yeah! /images/graemlins/mad.gif

luvhair was talking like theres an entire CPR range. maybe there is and since the US gets to have stuff first....
or maybe she was referring to the normal motions hairdress...

hoping luvhair will clarify this for us! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes y'all CPR has a whole line and it does have a hairdressing this also has herbs in it. I have a jar at home that I've used sparingly twice (almost a whole jar left). I don't really like it, but I'm glad someone is having favorable results. I couldn't jive with putting Tea Tree Oil in my hair (scalp yes, hair no) and it was a bit too "watery" for me.

Luvhair if you've got something barely used and you want to trade PM me!

Their hairdressing?? Does it contain PJ and MO? I'm sure I've picked this up and put this down.

Nope no petroleum or mineral oil if my memory serves me correctly. I haven't seen it in every beauty supply though so maybe it hasn't reached you yet.

I use the treatment and the shampoo, but the hairdressing comes in a small jar-- about 4 oz- and it does have a little herbs in it. Actually thats one of the drawbacks, sometimes it looks like I have stuff in my hair-- but i only use it on my scalp. It does have mineral oil and I know thats not good but I really like it. It makes my new growth smooth too! Its hard to find-- I live in the US and you can only find it in certain places. but i love it!

LD, the company seems to be getting away from the mineral oil/petrolatum thing a bit. I have their Motions At Home Moisture Enhancing Hairdressing, and it says on the cover: "Petrolatum and Mineral Oil Free Formula." I don't like the scent at all myself, but it's quite moisturising. I've seen the CPR Hairdressing too, but I haven't tried it.

I've seen the CPR hairdressing and it said pet and mineral oil free. The main ingredients are water and glycerin. I was thinking of getting this but decided on the Elasta QP Mango Butter because I was afraid the CPR would make my hair feel wet. It's not real watery but it was more moist than the Mango Butter.

I wonder if they have changed the formula and there are 2 batches of this stuff, cause I've seen a 4oz Motions hairdressing and I'm so sure it was part of the CPR line. The stuff over here had MO and PJ in it. I may e-mail the company and see if this is the case. It definitely had herbs in it and smelt CPR like, the only thing that stopped me from buying it were those 2 ingredients.

Maybe they are now jumping on the MO and PJ free bandwagon as they see line like ORS doing very well without and may boost sales from women now very concious about what is going in their hair.

How often can I use the Motion CPR Conditioner? I tried it for the first time last week, liked it, and was gonna use it again this week.

I use hairdresses with mineral oil and petrolatum, too. I usually apply a moisturising hairdress to my hair, then top that off with something containing mineral oil and/or petrolatum. The combination doesn't seem to be adversely affecting my hair. I don't put anything with mineral oil or petrolatum directly on my scalp, though.

Edited to add that my hair seems to retain more moisture this way. I often use olive oil after a moisturising hairdress, too, to 'seal' the moisture in.

Elliot for those that like it, like me, it's hard not to pick the product back up each and every time I wash my hair. It's a protein treatment and too much protein too often can damage the hair and cause it to get dry and break off. Use it only when necessary. Some use it every 4 weeks as a good guideline to keep the shedding and breakage at bay.

i seem to remember someone either from the old longhairlovers site or it may have been one of my yahoo groups club, saying that the cpr is not really considered a protein conditioner. it seems one of them talked to the company and they said that it doesnt really have enough protein to be called a protein conditioner. personally i used it 2 or 3 times a month. it makes my hair so soft and tangle free. but that is just how it works for me. i dont believe is the same as aphogee. i havent used this but from what i heard it leaves your hair hard but that is what proteins conditioners do. anyways just said all this to say that if its working for your hair to use it more often than once a month or so then go ahead and do it. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ok now I'm confused /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Jacqui, it's my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) Protein conditioners don't necessarily have to turn hard in order for it to be classed as a protein conditioner. The aphogee is more a concentrated form of protein than the CPR. Fantasia IC do one that Sweetcocoa recommended back in tha day and was moisturising but also contained enough protein to stop the shedding and the breakage.

Does anyone know first hand about the CPR and it's effects of the hair from frequent use?

LD, You're right. Protein conditioners don't have to get hard to be classified as protein treatments. EX: Nexxus KeraPhix and Affirm 5 in 1 reconstructor, both of which I use. The motions CPR is a protein treatment, perhaps not as concentrated as Aphogee, but a protein treatment none the less. Now, some lucky people may be able to use this treatment several times a month regularly without experiencing any breakage, but that is not the case for everyone. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks Pebs

I thought I was going crazy by advising people to watch how many times they use it a month /images/graemlins/drunk.gif

Jaquai....I remember that. I can't remember who it was (I don't want to say the wrong name) but I remember that person calling and reporting that it doesn't really have enough protein in to to be considered a protein conditioner.

I just sent an email to the Motions company about the CPR. When I used to go to the hairdressers, they always used the CPR as a protein treatment on my hair. Hopefully they will get back to me soon. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I remember this as well.

I used to use it when I was relaxed, but I didn't like it. It had too much "tree branch" stuff in it, and when I washed out it seemed like it was still on my hair. Now I do use the Motions Oil conditioner (still in a tub but all white instead of lightbrown with twigs).

I used to use the shampoos but since they have SLS's I don't use them anymore. I stick with the new Creme of Nature and Breakthru.

I used to Use th CPR TREATMENT every week and it really halped alot with my hair breakage. I also used the shampoo and the hair grease/dressing. I thought that you are supposed to use a reconstructor everytime you wash or atleast once a week?

Luvhair,

I don't think you are supposed to use a reconstructor every week. I'd say a good deep conditioning once a week is sufficient enough with a moisturising conditioner.

Pandora, I was very impressed with the Aphogee--it literally stopped my over processing-induced hair breakage in its tracks (thanks again, Londondiva!) What do you use in-between the 6-week Aphogee treatments?

Right now I'm using up the Curessence & the left over conditioner from the Bodiphier people that I still have in the house, but right now I'm searching for something to keep my hair breakage at bay...

Londondiva I think she used Fantasia IC Deep Penetrating Cream Moisturizer and Motions CPR...when I did a search one of her old posts came up! LOLOL

Daviine,
It was I who called the company. This had to be over a year ago. The woman actually put me on hold and went to talk to a company chemist. She came back and said that the chemist said that there isn't enough protein in it to consider it a "Protein" conditioner. She said that using it once a week would be no problem.

I love the smell of it, but to tell you the truth I didn't notice a marked difference in my hair condition or breakage.

I haven't used it in quite some time.

Pallas

I love love Motions CPR (I think it's the smell of it) and I don't mind the little herbs.. /images/graemlins/grin.gif But I don't use it too much either.

I've always wondered what type of conditioner it is. The contents list mostly herbs but I try not to use it too much anyway. I like alternating conditioners because I'm a PJ junkie and can justify buying conditioners this way.. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ohh /images/graemlins/smile.gif I see. Thanks for all the feedback. It stopped my shedding and breakage DEAD in it's tracks. I might use it that bit more frequently then.
