JudithO if Califa doesn't work holla @ me. I'll buy it. I'm looking for something new but my hair hates Shea butter so I don't want to buy it full price from Komaza.

JudithO

My califia spray is on the way. I ordered the 2 ounce bottle. If it doesn't work, I will try the Komaza aloe spray.

I'm still looking for a liquid for my LCO method. Right now I just use water and a regular conditioner as a leave-in.

Soultanicals Hair Sorrell Kink Drink hands DOWN...and I have tried a lot of them.

Coily Head Chick's Hair Martini is good too. Both are glycerin free and are staples for me (ESPECIALLY the Kink Drink).

hair4romheaven I only bought the 2oz sample.. I spilled half the bottle, diluted 1/4... I hardly have 0.5 oz left :)

On the bright side, I was able to buy the 2oz for around 6.75 (shipping included).... So it's pretty cheap to buy the sample and try from their website...

I didn't know they had samples for sale. I just bought the protein treatment pm July 4th. I wish I knew. :( I want to try the aloe & cailfa

So I tried the califa spray... and It worked okay... I didnt like that it was kinda thick and didnt spray right, I tried diluting, and felt it didnt work as well..... I think my 4c newgrowth prefers the Shescentit Tahitian Vanilla Spray... That think instantly softens my NG... unlike the califa spray where I kinda have to wait for and massage into my NG to feel the results... I'll keep trying it .... It wasn't bad at all.. but I get better results from the SSI spray..

JudithO You have to dilute it a lot if you want it to spray in a mist. It is a thick, rich spritz packed full of nutrients. Sometimes I dilute 50/50, sometimes more. However, I do not dilute the Aloe My Hair Moisture spray. It is best when used in full effect. Maybe you found your staple in the SSI you're making me kind of interested. I'm trying to get rid of the product junkie esp since I have found an awesome staple in every category. Zoinks!

virtuenow this post summed up what I think as well. Really want to try the SSI JudithO mentioned as well as Aloe My Hair.

I recently purchased the Komaza Care Califia Moisturizing Spray and I love it!! I dilute mine about 1 part Califia to 2 parts water. Any more than that I find it a little too thick to be sprayed evenly. It leaves my hair moisturized and makes an excellent detangler (yay for two in one :yep:). But when this bottle finishes I would still like to try one of the aforementioned ones just to switch it up because at this rate the Califia will last a while. By the way it smells amazing!!!

virtuenow AlliCat I know.... I really want to love the califa spray.... cos diluting it will make it so cheap and cost effective as a staple..... I'm determined to try to love it, so I'll keep trying the little I have left... But for me... The SSI Tahitian Vanilla makes my very fine 4C new growth feel like it disappeared instantly to my fingers... I think you guys should try it... If your hair doesnt like it, PM me and I'll take it off your hands (at least you have a guaranteed way to get rid of it if you hate it... nothing lost here...)

^ These are the ingredients in the ssi tahitian vanilla....

Chamomile, water infused with Aloe, Nettle extract, grape seed extract, Honey, Colts foot extract, Horsetail, Silk Amino Acids, Sage, Rosemary, coconut oil, coconut milk, Shea Butter, Tahitian vanilla, centrimonium chloride, Tocopheryl Acecate (vit E), Panthenol, citric acid, Phenoxyethenol, fragrance.

Maybe its the silk amino acids that does it for me....

You relaxed ladies that use mist spray, do you moisturize with the spray and if yes, how often. My hair becomes limp when I use mists to moisturize my hair. It never bothered me because my hair is always in buns, but I want to start wearing other styles.

mamaore

I use a mist to moisturize and seal every other day, or every 2 days since I leave my hair in a bun a lot. I use 2 by Shea Moisture (Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Spray, and Baobab & Yucca Thickening Mist). I also use a leave-in: Joico Daily Detangling mixed with a little Hawaiian Silky 14-N-1 Miracle Worker Spray. I alternate these sprays, and sometimes just use conditioner mixed with water in a spray bottle. Just depends on my mood and how my hair feels.

ETA: I have been thinking of trying the Komaza Califia spray and Aloe My Hair. I will pick them up during my next haul, but the Shea Moisture products I mentioned above will always be staples for me...including the HS too. It's thick so a little goes a long way. It can be diluted and still works well. It's also cheap. All of these products I use also work well on my DD's 4a natural hair.

I have a wish list for SSI. Y'all makin me wanna try these products! :lick: I use the LCO/S (S=serum) method to M&S...the slash means sometimes I use oil (80% of the time), sometimes a serum (20%). I use serums a lot to have some sort of sun protection on my hair's surface.

Jewell How are the shea moisture sprays working for you? I need something effective that I can find on the ground...

mamaore I only use a spray for my NG.... Starting from 4 weeks post... I use it whenever I M&S which is every other day... I spray my roots, and use a regular moisturizing lotion on my ends and then seal...

Ok, lemme preface this by saying I jumped on Shea Moisture HARD when I was transitioning and BC'd 2010-early 2011. I bought a ton of items as soon as they hit my local SuperTarget. I knew if they didn't work for me, I would keep them for my daughter. All of the products were excellent on our hair...except the Deep Treatment Masque with Shea butter. It's horrible as a conditioner but great as a leave-in cream. I don't believe in throwing products away, so I just find another use for them.

As for my relaxed hair, both of these mists are excellent. It seems the Baobab & Yucca mist strenthens my hair so it reminds me of a protein leave-in, whereas I get more softening with the Coconut & Hibiscus mist...which is weird because coconut oil is considered a type of protein. But alas, I love them both. They smell good and aren't heavy, like spraying water but with nice nutrients that actually help your hair. *I am not a Shea Moisture spokesperson.* :lachen:

JudithO I like how fragrance is last ingredient. I remember sniffing this in the Honeyfig store and it smelled heavenly :lick:, but my mind was stuck on Komaza b/c of the awesome reviews. Definitely want to give SSI a try someday

Thanks... I'll buy and try both.... I'm all for getting all my staples on the ground...

I just figured it out, my highest dilution thus far has been 1 part Califia and 3 parts Aloe Juice (or water)-- and the product was still awesome.

My califia moisturizing spray arrived today. I rollerset my hair on Tuesday night after swim class but I really want to use this now!! It seems to spray out fine but I can see why people dilute it. It's not a mist type spray at all and since the nozzle is not adjustable, I'm going to transfer it.

I currently moisturize and seal but want to try the loc/loco method with the hope that I won't have to do it so often in the cold, dry winter months ( 5-7 times a week, 1-2 times a week in the warmer months). I think this would give me more bang for my buck.

Have you tried any of the following products, did you like them, and why?

komaza care: califia ,aloe my hair, moku lock & braid, vitamin reign, coconut curl

claudies: braid spray, tea spray

Do you ladies have any additional suggestions? I don't want to make my own spray and I want it to be natural and/or organic.

Please don't suggest water, its not adequate enough for me:yep:

I have several of the sprays mentioned. I have KomazaCare Califia Moisturizing spray, Aloe My Hair Spray, and Shea Moisture Yucca and Baobob Moisture Mist in rotation now.

I just ordered Claudie's Braid Spray and Tea Spritz. I also ordered SSI Tahitian and Vanilla leave in.

southerncitygirl

I have the Moku Loc and Braid SPray, but have yet to try it. The ingredients are incredible though :yep:.

naturalmanenyc

I transfer mine as well. I don't really like their sprayer either. I hope you like it. Please come back with your results once you've used it.

thus far i have tried aloe my hair, califa, and the coconut sprays... califa & aloe are my faves :) i like that califa can be diluted and aloe my hair is fine as it is! i'll order more spray in the fall to get me through the winter.

So guys I tried the califa spray on my relaxed ends.... PURE LOVE!!! Hair was smooth, delicious..... I have to make this thing work for my roots... hehehe...

EnExitStageLeft

I used it on dry hair after mixing with aloe juice, 1 tbs califia and 2 tbs aloe juice in a different spray bottle. I wanted more of a mist and not a stream.

So far I like it but I can't tell if it detangled well on it's own or because I added aloe vera juice. I love the ingredients and hope it works well as part of my LCO routine when I next wash my hair.

ETA: I also feel like it adds shine although it doesn't come across well in this photo. Used alone (after mixing with aloe vera juice) it made my twists pretty shiny. Yeah, I have twists and rollerset hair on one head at the same time.

Dreamn its very thick, but keep pumping-- it should spray. I would not dilute it. It works best with its full effect. I tried diluting it and it not nearly as powerful when you do that.

Right now, some of the ones in my Stash are:

Hydratherma Naturals Follicle Booster
Soultanicals Wrappers Delight
Soultanicals Sorrell
Naturelle Grow Ginger Peach
MOP Peach Detangler
Grow Afro Hair Long
Afroveda Ginseng & Moringa
Hairveda's Hydrasilica Spritz
SSI Tahitian Spritz

I love water-based Spritz as a Summer time Refresher and I use them as a Detangler as well.:lick:

Would love to try Komaza's Aloe My Hair. I have tried Komaza's Vitamin Reign and a couple Spritz's from MyHoneyChild.

I still have not tried Oyin Juices & berries.:nono:

I've had it several times but sold or swapped it along with Frank's & Greg's Juice.

Qhemet Biologics had a Karady Tea Spritz that was wonderful, but it got discontinued.

I also have several Oil(s)
Darcy's Cherry
Darcy's Peach
Darcy's Plum
Shea Moisture Restorative Elixir

Call me simple:lol:... but good old fashion braid spray with drops of tea tree oil added and sometimes rosemary oil too... it works great for me

I revise my prior statement. I used the califia spray on freshly washed hair on Sunday. Now that it's fully dry (twist out) my hair not as moisturized as using plain water, then my leave in (Aubrey Blue Chamomile) and my oil mix. I mixed the califia spray with aloe vera juice, 1 tbs califia and 2 tbs aloe juice in a different spray bottle since I wanted more of a mist and not a stream. My hair is moisturized but it feels a little crunchy in some places which is unusual.

I have half a bottle left over that I will mix with spring water to see if it works differently. It could be the aloe vera juice and not the califia itself.
