I currently moisturize and seal but want to try the loc/loco method with the hope that I won't have to do it so often in the cold, dry winter months ( 5-7 times a week, 1-2 times a week in the warmer months). I think this would give me more bang for my buck.

Have you tried any of the following products, did you like them, and why?

komaza care: califia ,aloe my hair, moku lock & braid, vitamin reign, coconut curl

claudies: braid spray, tea spray

Do you ladies have any additional suggestions? I don't want to make my own spray and I want it to be natural and/or organic.

Please don't suggest water, its not adequate enough for me:yep:

I forgot to mention I am a natural cottony 3c/4a with healthy hair its just that winter is quite rough this year in terms of temps in the northeast. :look:I'm tired of soul-glo marks being all over er'thang all the time, though ashy ain't classy and greasy is good!:lachen:

I have tried the Califia Spray from Komaza and girllllllllllllll :dead:. The moisture punch of this product is borderline frickin' ridiculous. Its highly concentrated and can be diluted which is something I like because a 8 oz. can last me a while. What I usually do is take 1/4ths of the bottle and pour it into a spray bottle. I then fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water and use from there.

I typically use it as my Liquid for the modified LOC method I do (LCOB). What I do is spray about 2 to 3 spritz's in my hand and apply it directly to the section. I do this because I stretch my hair and I find that if I use to much my hair reverts back to it wet texlaxed texture.

I have also used this as a leave in, but I had to stop using it this way because it gave me moisture overload.

Komaza is mainly what I have had my eye on, She has so many friggin choices! Califa is one of my choices that I will buy but i'm not sure what other one i would purchase cause i want to buy 2. I'll be sure when i use a cream that it is balanced with moisture-protein-ceramides. I like products that give alot bang for your buck, which is why aubreys and claudies continue to get my monies:yep:

Their protein strengthener is errr-thang to me, chile......aphogee 2-step can kick rocks with peep-toe shoes on:lachen:

You know what everytime I go to order that stuff, I end up with something else LOL! I needs to try it. It may be able to become one of my go to protein treatments.

Wow, you just named the two brands I love.
Komaza moku butter is amazing, and coconut pudding is a great moisture laden styler. I used vitamin reign until it was gone; can't remember if it had protein. Think I sprayed my scalp with it, and it was divine.

Lately, I make my own sprays, komaza and claudie's make some good stuff.

I've never used Komaza Care or Claudie's.

I was going to suggest mixing an Aubrey's conditioner with water, but then I saw that you don't want to make a spray.

Komaza Califia Spray is the best moisture spritz out there. I've tried many others (and water) and Califia went the extra mile to pack their spritz w/moisture rich and lasting ingredients. I do the LCO method. Liquid, cream (leave-in lotion), and oil--> just makes sense.

In no particular order:

Komaza
Claudie's Tea Or Claudie's Leave-In (Execellent Choices)
Hydratherna Naturals Follicle Booster
Oyin J&B
Afroveda's Moringa & Ginseng
Camille Rose Curl Quencher *have it but haven't tried*
Soultanicals Kink Drink(s) haven't tried but getting Great Reviews

Rosewater and glycerin.

You can order it online or get it from a health food store. It comes in a spray bottle. I use it on my hair and skin.

Oh two more natural or organic blends.

Shea Moisture Hibiscus Mist. It says "holding spray" on the bottle. But it's not. It's a moisturizer. Available at Target.

HydraSilica Mist by Hairveda. But you have to order that online.

Are you looking for sprays without glycerin/low glycerin? I'm on the east coast too and this dryness is BLOWING MY MIND. I was going to pick up Ouidad's Botanical Spritz this week

Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you. Someone mentioned my Baby. It works the best for my hair in the LOCO method, and that in a trio helped me get out of Protein overload.

Girl! I love that stuff. I try to keep two bottles around so I don't run out. I hate when I'm out and can't just go to store and get it.

Shescentit Moisture mist and soultanicals wrappers delight hydrating kink drink (*side note- Komaza califia is on my list to try)

glycerin normally doesn't give me trouble anytime of the year. this winter has been much colder than the previous one. so it doesn't matter to me. i just got filters for my humidifier and i've been working that sucka out!

Girl who are you telling?! My hair is going up under a baggy until I get a new filter. The Walmart near me doesn't have the one I need for my humidifier. Until I get it, I'm baggying while home. Gotta do something. I've had the screw face for dayssssss!

Same here. I find that my mix works great to give me the moisture boost I need.
Moisture Mix
1 oz. aloe vera juice
1/2 tsp jojoba oil or castor oil
3-5 drops veg glycerine
5 oz spring or filtered water
3-5 drops of eo or fragrance oil for scent.
Put in a spray bottle, shake well before use.

I spritz each section of hair, smoothing through, then seal w/ my shea butter mix. My hair feels great for days!

i ordered mine online and ordered 4 filters to tide me over. do a goggle search on filters for your make and model and they will probably arrive at your home by the end of the week. everytime walmart gets them i bet folks snatch them suckas up in multiples.

i should be good till maybe march. my homedics model had cheapie filters i think it was somewhere btw 14-17 dollars for 4 and shipping was free. i ain't about this winter time life,:look: i need to be in someone's carry-on heading somewhere tropical. i'll pay the weight overage fee:lol:

@havilland
i just ran out of the shea moisture mist and it worked fine, but i wanted something with more kick.

The postman just came with my goodies from komaza.
I got:
8oz califa spray
2oz of aloe my hair spray
2oz coconut spray
they also gave a way a free sample of shea butter hair lotion

I'm looking forward to using the califa, i poured 1/2 of the bottle in my spray bottle and will add 6-10 ounces of water since its so concentrated as recommended by @EnExitStageLeft

the lco version of the loc method is working best for me. my twists and hair have been smooth/moist from root to tip, i don't do it but 2-4 times a wk (i could actually get away with 1-2), i'm using less of my cream based products, and best of there are no more soul glo marks on my pillowcases or anywhere else. :)

I originally suggested Komaza's Califia Moisture Spray-- and it is excellent (even when diluted in 1/2 or 1/4ths). Well Komaza came out with a new moisture spritz that is just as great. It is the Aloe My Hair Spray. I prefer it straight up, undiluted. It is very similar to the texture of natural aloe vera gel, so I squirt it out and massage it in. It really soaks in the moisture; and is also great for the LCO method.

After I wash my hair, I just use aloe vera juice and it works really great for me, I just started doing this about a month ago and can certainly see the difference in my hair. Added benefit is that it helps to close the cuticles. During the week, plain water works just fine for me.

I got the 2 ounce size of aloe my hair and look forward to trying it as well. I also have the 2oz of the coconut spray as well. All the sprays are pretty thick. Thanks for the tip with the aloe one, i will keep that in mind. :)

Bumping ... I just bought the komaza califa spray... that stuff is thick!! I need to dilute.. does it work as well after dilution?

I also use the Shescentit Tahitian Vanilla Spray and my hair loves it!!

I dilute all of the Komaza sprays and they work wonderfully. So much in fact that if I don't dilute them, they give me moisture overload.

So I tried the califa spray... and It worked okay... I didnt like that it was kinda thick and didnt spray right, I tried diluting, and felt it didnt work as well..... I think my 4c newgrowth prefers the Shescentit Tahitian Vanilla Spray... That think instantly softens my NG... unlike the califa spray where I kinda have to wait for and massage into my NG to feel the results... I'll keep trying it .... It wasn't bad at all.. but I get better results from the SSI spray..
