*chanting* Health before length, health before length....

Lately I had noticed that my ends had been looking hella thin. I think the thinning was caused by two factors: (1) a dumb decision to run the relaxer through my ends again because I decided my hair wasn't straight enough (2) an affinity I had developed for heat appliances. :perplexed

So my bff was doing my touchup yesterday (she's a licensed cosmetologist) and I asked her go ahead and cut the thin ends off. I know you should focus on health first, but mayne, I got a good 3-4 inches cut off of my hair. My hair does look infinitely better since the cut though, so I guess I should focus on the positive. :perplexed

I'm back to neck length, working my way to shoulder again. It just sucks because it feels like it's gonna take forever for me to get to APL. And BEFORE THE CUT bff was like, dang, your hair has gotten so long! :perplexed

Hang in there lady, all of us in the club of "Why Is It Taking So Long For Length" understand your pain.

Slow and steady wins the race. Remember healthy is ALWAYS good.

Hey Girl, you'll get back there. Remember, I too had a set back in Feb last year, but I'm back to where I was before. Just focus on having fun w/ your hair coz you won't be able to enjoy that length for much longer. :yep:

You have the right mind frame.

I think I may be in the same boat with you. I need my ends trimmed badly, due mainly to neglect (i.e. not sleeping with a cap on or wrapping or rollersetting my hair).

So I may go from near APL to SL at my next visit.
I will ask my stylist what she thinks.

So keep your head up. Health before Length is the right way to go.

I did the same thing a couple of months ago. I cut about 3 inches off my sides because they looked so thin and scraggly! Since then I've gained about two inches back and it looks better than ever! I was a bit upset when I did it because my hair looked so uneven, but now you can barely tell a difference. You'll get that hair back girl, and thensome!

:weird: (chanting with you)

Thanks for the support, ladies. I really does help. :)

I suppose I will recommit to my MegaTek regimen to see if I can get my length back sooner rather than later.

(((HUGS))))

I prefer health over length myself:yep:. Now that you've taken off the damage / split ends your hair will retain it's length much better and you will be able to see the growth.

In my hair experience, My hair progresses much better when I allow my stylist to dust at every relaxer touch-up. In the past, I tried to hold unto "see-thru" ends only to have cut off more than I liked when I reached a goal.

Take care of your ends (moisturize), dust/trim when needed and you will reach your goal! This time around you will have healthier and stronger hair...happy hair growing!

Don't worry SB. It's a journey girl. There are setbacks and comebacks. Health is always the first priority!
