Miss Jessies Super Sweetback Treatment

I tried a sample. It was awful for my hair. And I love the rapid recovery.

really? how no slip? made it feel dry or coated?

curious how do you use your rapid recovery? i bought some, wanted to love it cause it's so THICK....but dunno....

It just AMAZES me how much these companies are charging for this stuff. I say - always read the ingredients... I bet you will figure it is not worth it.....

:nono:....Miss Jessie - Since most of their products are greasy ( mineral oil ) I would not be shocked if this stuff wasn't just as grease laden....

My hair doesn't get greasy with their stuff...i actually had one of my best hair days/weeks when using the curly pudding and buttercreme last time I used it. Go figure. When I first used it, I loved it. Started to hate it. Now my hair likes it again. Meh.

I would love to try out all of their products. I want to see what it does to my curl definition!! But I have been hearing bad things about them...everyone's different though. I'll give it a try...I'll put this product in my PJ list..lol

I feel ya girl. I was hooked on the stuff 5 years ago. I twisted my hair every week with it.... Alas.... I have moved on. My hair has too.....

yeah i dont know, but i mean since i have SO MUCH of it at my house from my love affair with it when i first went natural...lol. i tried the newer stuff later on and it wasn't completely terrible.

I want to try it. Someone gave me a sample but I can't find it :( I will try it out during the World Natural Hair Show when they come down to Atlanta.

im waiting on mine to come in the mail. im a miss jessies fan eventhough i much rather natural ingredients.

I don't understand why their products are so expensive! Even the most prized salon brand (i.e. Redken, Joico, Paul Mitchell, Mizani) doesn't cost as much as MJ. I don't understand. Can someone please explain? BTW, I used the Curly Meringue years ago, and it burned my scalp like a relaxer.

The treatment looks soooo very tempting!!! But the Buttercreme and Curly Meringue are my staples when I need perfectly defined, stretched out curls. Due to the cost, I save them for special occasions, LOL! I do think they are overpriced, but I must say that they are the reason I started wearing my naturally curly hair out versus going to get it rollerset/flat ironed religiously every couple of weeks - prior to finding Miss Jessie's nothing else worked for me. I think the treatment will have to wait until the next BOGO round.

ITA with the bolded. I'm currently rationing half jars of the original formula of the Baby Buttercreme and Curly Meringue. MJ products always give me FANTASTIC curly hair results. I did get sample sizes of the "new" forumulas. I just started testing the new stuff...verdict is still out. :ohwell: However, it's not bad. It also does not make my hair greasy.

I really wish they would switch back to the original ingredients.:yep:

I will try the sample size of the Sweetback when MJ products hit Target stores later this month.

ETA: Sample size = 2 oz jar

The name made me think of A Pimp Named Slickback on The Boondocks. "Say it with me now!"

For real, I'm kind of glad my hair doesn't like this stuff. Too much $$ to pay for sub-par ingredients.

I so agree with you, I don't see what is so special about the products, they are too overpriced and the ingredients is like most products off the shelf have. Mineral Oil and other not so good stuff! but that is just MO

:lachen: You foolish

I want to know why they cost so much and I don't really hear stellar reviews. When I go natural, I know I won't be trying any Miss Jessies. I would probably be better off with afroveda and shescentit.

When are they coming target??:eek2: this would be very convenient
Yea they are coming to Target....anyone know when? I've been checking. It probably won't even come to my Target :(

I at least want to try the stuff and the only way i will is if they hit the dept. store shelves.

March 28th...They will be in most of the Targets in the urban areas. I believe 200 some stores..I had the list at one point...cant find it.

my super sweet back treatment came in the mail today along with the curly meringue which i love so much. the treatment is very thick but creamy and smells almost like bubble yum. smells very good. i will be using it this sunday.

when these products come to target i will be getting the baby buttercreme which i love as well. the baby buttercremem is very moisturizing for my hair and does not make my hair greasy or coated.
the curly meringue will always be a staple. i love it for puffs but now i cant wait to try it on my braid outs.
i also want the curly pudding, i know it makes some peoples hair curnchy but i just want it for twists and braids, i have a sample of the unscented that i plan on using next week, if i dont like it then i wont purchase a full size.
but the baby buttercreme, curly meringue are staples. i hope to make the sweet back treatment a staple too.

i want to try the quick curls but it reminds me of the aveda be curly which i have and am planning on trying later this week.

Did you like the sweetback treatment?

I never understood the whole ingredient issue. It seems like the formulation should matter more than the ingredients. I've never used Miss Jessie's (my hair is relaxed), but when I was in Target, I noticed that those jars are huge.

IDK....Aveda is expensive as I don't know what, but the products are worth every penny and last a long time. Maybe it's the same with Miss Jessie's??? Just playing devil's advocate here....

i like the sweet back treatment. i didnt think it was amazing but it did moisturize my hair. i think its worth the money because it has a ton of slip so on wet hair you dont need a lot and since the jar is huge i can see it lasting me a very long time. same with all her other products. they last me forever.

I agree with this post. I purchased the SBT when it first came out and I'm impressed with it. It does give me a lot of slip as well. Moisturizing and it was worth the money. I like Miss Jessies products.
