1. Before I decided to chill out a little on the MN use, I had ordered a tube of Remedy Antifungal Cream with Olivamine from Walgreens.com for $13.49. It is a huge 4 oz. tube and it smells really good.

Anyway, I sold it to a friend who had suffered from hair loss due to bad weave care. She wants to jump on the MN wagon now. I applied the Remedy cream for her and I have to say I like it MUCH better.

It is thinner and lighter than Neosporin AF and the other ingredients are nice.
The amount of the Remedy that I used on her entire head, would have only covered a small section if I had used the same amount of Neosporin AF.

I wanted it back after that! :)

Also, I did get FSA reimbursement for my Walgreens purchase of this.

2. Here is a homeopathic option that we could try. It is an oil, and I know some of the ladies were talking about antifungal oils as an option anyway. I think I will try it out like I did with the MN just to see how it works. Homeopathic options always make me feel better anyway.

It is called Olive Viate antifungal Relief.

Indications: For the temporary relief of skin rashes, dry itching skin, flaking, burning, scaly and inflamed skin, and cracks between toes. For the temporary relief of the symptoms of eczema and athlete’s foot (Tinea pedis).

Skin Relief: Olive•Viate homeopathic medicine provides safe topical treatment for a variety of skin rashes and irritations. Olive•Viate is chemical-free and has proven to be a safe and effective remedy. The olive and coconut base, along with the concentrated omega-3 fatty acids and natural vitamin E provide excellent antimicrobial and antioxidant protection for the skin. Regular daily applications onto dry, cracking, itching skin, and skin affected by athlete’s foot and eczema, will help to relieve discomfort and promote the repair and healing process.

Ingredients: Olive•Viate is formulated and manufactured in accordance with strict FDA pharmaceutical standards to ensure safety and purity. Seagate combines four homeopathic ingredients (Graphites, Hepar sulphuris calcareum, Rhus toxicodendron, and Sulphur) within a base of virgin olive oil, natural coconut oil, omega-3 shark liver oil, and natural vitamin E.

Oil ↔ Solid: Natural coconut oil is one of the main ingredients in Olive•Viate. Natural coconut oil can solidify when temperatures drop below 75 F. As a result, some bottles may solidify during shipment or storage, especially during the cold weather months and in the northern latitudes. This is normal and has no effect on the quality or efficacy of the product. It is the result of using only natural unprocessed raw materials in this product. Should this occur, simply warm the bottle for a few minutes (ie. in warm water or in your pocket).

Oil Base vs. Creams: Seagate investigated a variety of carriers for delivering these active ingredients to your skin. While creams are by far the most common base, this method would require that up to 80% of the volume of the product be devoted to the cream-forming ingredients, having no specific medicinal effects for the skin. Each individual ingredient in Olive•Viate is beneficial to your skin.

Topical Use: Products that are applied to your skin will ultimately be absorbed into your body. Therefore, you should not be using anything on your skin that you would not feel comfortable swallowing. Most over-the-counter skin medicines are composed of chemicals. All of the ingredients used in Olive•Viate are edible. However, this product was not designed for internal use and should not be taken orally.

Directions: Thoroughly wash affected skin with warm soapy water and dry completely. Apply several drops of Olive•Viate to a fingertip and gently work into the affected area. Olive•Viate will absorb completely into the skin after several minutes. Repeat at least 2-3 times per day. For best results, continue using for one or two weeks after symptoms disappear. In stubborn cases, repeated treatment may be necessary. Prompt and proper treatment can help prevent the problem from spreading.

The only thing I don't like is that it is only a 1 oz. Bottle. Also, it has Sulphur so I hope it does not smell bad!!!

By the way guys, I did not chill out on the MN use because I think it is doing something bad. I just want to try stratching my relaxers out a bit and MN made that impossible. I subjected my hair to blowdrying twice a week with a comb attachement (yes, call me crazy) and last night had about 1 - 1.5 inches of rough ends chopped off. I need to baby my hair for a while and super fast growth is just too much for me.

I am all for MN use since I got a thumbs up from my doctor and did my recearch.

Thank you for being such a wonderful blessing, HoneyDew. PLUS you have been a brave one to experiment with this and then pass it on to us. I am truly sold on MN.

I cut my hair (about 1 inch) early April. I have noticable growth (at least 1/2 inch) already. I'm a very happy lady. I'm not afraid of 'cut's anymore. I'll keep everyone posted.

God bless you.:)

Shimmie, are you using this once or twice a day? are you using 2% or 4%? Do you mix it with anything else?

I use the Neosporin AF once a day (each night so that I can take my time and part my hair in smaller sections -- sometimes in the morning if I'm not rushing for work). It comes in the 2% MN formula. I love it! It just 'melts' right into my scalp and I don't have to worry about any unsightly residue.

But I am going to try the other product with the 2% MN that Honeydew mentioned in her post above. It's much easier on the budget.

Using the MN is much easier then using MTG. Although I love the texture of my hair with MTG, it's less mess and the concerns of others smelling my hair. I actually didn't mind the smell. It faded overnight.
BUT.... that's me, not those whom I love :lachen:

God bless you and thanks for asking. Hope I was helpful to you.

Is there a Walgreen's in Canada? Is either product available here? (going off mumbling something unintelligible) and planning next trip to Health food store. bonjour
