i'm curious to see who has done this... i'm thinking about trying it but wanted to see y'alls experience with it. :look:

I am experimenting on my daughter's hair this evening. I mixed one cup of best foods mayo and one egg, blended it in the processor, making a lovely yellow, smooth concotion. Right now, it's warming a bit on the counter - way too cold right now. Had I been thiking, I would have let both ingredients come to room temperature and then blended them.

We'll see.

I'm never really sure about hair types, but she is mixed (black/white) with fine, very curly hair that, right now, is dry and frizzy. I've finally gotten her to agree to let me deal with her hair and set some rules - no gel, no hair spray, wash only twice a week, better conditioners. She is Miss Independent and wants to do it herself. This has not worked out too well - those dry fizzy ends were driving me batty.

We'll see how it goes.

Re: mayo on hair - the test results

Okay - this should seriously be a product, or grocery review. My daughter and I are "jacking" your thread.

One cup of Best Foods mayonaise and one eggs blended smooth and applied to clean hair. She rinsed with cool water (not without protest, but I told her I would not help wash and comb out scrambled eggs). Next, into the shower with her Mane and Tail Moisturizing Conditioner. She combed it out in the shower and rinsed well.

Holy cow - it's amazing. Amazing! Totally and completely amazing. She has some serious curl definition that has been missing for a long time. Super wavy, seriously curly, feeling strong and soft. WOW - did I mention the results were amazing.

She says her hair is much less frizzy and much less poufy (poufy is bad), but she is not sure how she feels about the little ringlets. She also says her hair has not looked like this since I don't remember when. It's a lot softer and it was easier to comb out.

All in all, this was a great success and she says she will "smell like egg salad again" later this week.

The day after report:

Her usually frizzy poufy pony tail is smooth and curly with lovely ringlets that she's not sure she likes. The ahir is soft and strong. We will do this again.

As far as it being a conditioner or what - I have no clue. I presume that with the egg it is protein and with the oil in the mayo that is moisture, though we did use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards. I don't know and I'm not worrying about it too much. It worked and her hair looks great. I am looking forward to the cumulative effects as we plan to do this once a week for the next couple of months and see what we can do to improve the condition of her hair.

I'm actually about to do the egg/mayo thing right now. I use it as a pre-poo and it is great!! My hair is super shiny and strong afterward, and it stops my shedding.
I love my egg and mayo pre-poo!!

This says your hair is 3ab relaxed. When not relaed, is your texture fine - lots of hair, but fine - with maybe pencil sized curls - usually spiral?

Have you found that the egg/mayo has a cumulativeeffect? That is my hope.

Mayo caused my hair to mat and I had to use extra conditioner to get my hair untangled. I know that the protein and fats are great for the hair, but I think my hair is way too soft to handle all the protein.

I do mayo and molasses in my hair, sometimes i dont wanna worry about an egg cooking in my hair, as a prepoo every few weeks i just clump it all on my dry hair leave it in for a few hours or so (housework ext) then afterward i jus wash and condition as usual. i find that my hair comes out a bit stronger and softer than usual, i use this as a light protien treatment.

i tried it last night and all i can say is WOW!

i wish i had taken before and after pics... my hair was doing some funky stuff the past few days. i just washed my hair Sunday, so after my workout i just rinsed my hair and then used 3 ice cream scoops of mayo blended with one large egg. i let it sit just long enough to wash myself up and shave my legs... maybe 10-15 minutes? then i rinsed it out with cool water, and massaged V05 Strawberries and Cream conditioner (i figured since this has such a strong scent, my hair wouldn't smell like mayo). i didn't detangle but when i rinsed this out with hot water and then did a final cool rinse... i was blown away. my coils were a lot less frizzy, especially in the canopy where frizz hits the worst. a few scraggly ends in the canopy showed no signs of improvement, but those are old colored ends that probably need to be trimmed anyway (just don't wanna do it :perplexed )

the downside is, my hair is a bit droopy today. i prefer big and fluffy. but, it doesn't look terrible. just different, i'm not used to it. :look:

I have BTM, so maybe I'll try this again, this time adding that and perhaps some oil. I've always heard people raving about the miracle of Mayo, but perhaps I didn't add enough moisturizing agents.

Thanks a bunch and keep us posted on the results! Take pics...

I will try this tonight...post later with review.

Here is my recipe:

Mayonnaise and Eggs mixed with the rest of my Organics Hair Mayonnaise. (only alittle bit is left)

I will use it as a pre poo.

My daughter said the same thing. Usually, her dry frizzy pony tail would be up in the air. Since the mayo/egg treatment, her hair is "heavier" as well. There is a great deal more definition to her curls and much less frizz. Though she admits that she likes the way her hair is smoother and softer, she not sure about the rest. But this treatment is such a wow effect for so little money - I am still amazed.

A long time ago, I used mayo with an egg in my hair. The results....not so pretty. It was very dry and hard. I don't know if I would try it again. I can't even use ORS mayo because I get the same results.

I used to pre-treat with mayo even before coming on here - but only during the dry summer months when I needed that extra moisture. I never thought about putting in the egg as well. Will look into this soon.

That's exactally how my natural texture is.
Also, I have only used this pre-poo while being relaxed so I'm not sure if there would be a difference with the results as a natural.
