Faith I love that line from Rush Hour 2!

I have only used the amla once. I just got it last week. I couldn't see using it daily but I did a pre-poo 13 weeks post and my hair was like butta!!! But you have to do a good washing job afterward. I had to clarify.

"you one crazy a## b####" LOL!!!!!

I know...lol. Everytime that movie is on (TBS) I have to make sure I catch that scene...lol. One of the funniest lines in the movie..lol.

How much are you all paying for amla? There's an Indian store here (well there are MANY of them in this part of town) and I get it for $5.35 CAD (tax included). If anybody wants any let me know...

Faith, I ordered online. I don't know of any indian stores in Baltimore. I paid 8.99 plus shipping. I bought the 300ml bottle. I just got mine last week but I will keep you in mind when I need to restock.

Thanks!
(I really did leave the thread and go watch RH2!

For those of you who got their oils at local Indian Stores. Were these Indian grocery stores or what type of store? I'm trying to find one TODAY! thanks

Yes. They were indian grocery stores that sell spices not sure what else they sell there.:)

I'ved used the Amla oil as a pre poo. I got mine at a local Indian store. I paid around three dollars for it. It has an awful smell, but I liked what it did to my hair. It was very soft and shiny.

OKay I found an Indian store that sells it and I bought the Amla and some KalaKola Hair Tonic. Now what? I had my hair cornrowed today so I can't prepoo. I'm not even sure WHY I bought this stuff. What is it supposed to do for the hair? Amla Oil smells like a wwet diaper sprayed with perfume. (Don't ask)

Ewwww are you serious?? Cause I keep hearing Amla oil smells but was wondering if that was like a stinky MTGish type smell or perfumey:confused:

IMO it has a slight urine smell. I haven't used it yet and it's not NEARLY as string as MTG.

Update:

I've found that I can use amla oil but not as a prepoo! For me, using oils as a prepoo is a disaster for my hair, it just comes out feeling much harder and brittle.

Ok so none of that for me.

So here's what I did for the last few days:

Since I rinse my hair out after the gym mixed together:

4 drops of amla oil
4 drops of Brahmi oil
a teeny weeny amount of coconut oil (about the size of 1/2 of a pea)
4 drops of jojoba oil
1 nickle size amount of Elasta Mango butter

I put this on my hair and lightly brush to get it all through the strands.

then I tie my hair down for bed.

The first night I did this when I woke up in the morning lo and behold, my hair was shiny, super soft and NOT GREASY AT ALL! WOW . I used a little carefree curl gold (about the size of a quarter for my whole head, I brushed my hair into a bun and saw 2 stands on the comb.

But here's the best part, the ease of which i was able to get that denman through my hair.... I have a ton of new growth that I'm really struggling with right now (have no idea where all this growth came from it just sprung out all over my head!) It totally behaved!

I can tie my hair down every night and my new growth still can give me problems. so its not me just tying it down that did it.

So I thought, ok, maybe thats a fluke:confused:

So last night I tried it again. This time since it was date night I misted my hair with demineralized water then used the oil/mango butter mix

The results were actually better if thats possible. Today I have handinhairitis, it just feels SO GOOD!:D

It has no oily feel at all, and the bling is amazing. My hair feels much stronger too (and I'm loving that)

This weekend I have to clarify so I'll see what it does then. But the way its going now I may never go back to straight jojoba oil.

Your mixture sounds awesome!! I'm glad you've found a regimen with it that is working for you!

Hi ladies,
A friend gave me her Amla oil. I mixed it with my MTG and other stuff to spray onto my scalp. This is my first time using it.

I don't think it's that bad. At least not nearly as stinky as MTG. But it definitely works best as an overnight pre-poo. It's too strong to wear in public. But I LOVE what it does for my hair. I use it twice/week and I don't have any plans to change that.
