Misses: NTM Deep Conditioning Mask

Aww..sorry it didn't work for you angelbaby. I've advised a few about using the mask...it works better if you only apply a small amount. It seems the opposite effect occurs when people use too much. Also, it doesn't work for everybody...u know how it goes...

But if you're in the big apple around meeting time...I'll take it off of your hands...;)

@Sylver....yes, girl....we know....u like the DDC...I swear I'm gonna write a letter to NTM about you...they really do need to send us some free ish anyways...:look:

Hits: shapley's MTG
Shealoe Butter-FNWL

shapley's makes my hair soft-gave my hair a healthy sheen- haven't used it long enough to determine whether it is aiding in the growth department yet(only started using it 3 days ago)- it stinks the first day but outside of the smell- great product. I use it at nite and apply a thin plastic cap over my head.

shealoe butter- love the consistency, the smell, the way my hair looks and feels after using it- i will use this after my condition wash in the mornings

Healthy black hair step-by-step instructions for growing longer, stronger hair book by Nicole Elizabeth smith

I am thinking of getting this book but I have a question for you: is there anything in this book that was not in Cathy Howse's Booook or Lisa Akbaris book or here on LHCF? TIA.

Hey tryn2growmyhair:) ,

I think everyone should have a copy of this book for reference. I would say that Nicole's book has all the information that is mentioned here on LHCF but it's just a reinforcement. I have read Cathy Howse's book but I have not read Lisa Akbaris book. In Nicole's book it has the same information as Cathy's book but Nicole's book is more detailed and she mentions additional information and regimes (sample perm cycle, sample hair week, heathy hair regimen) that was not mentioned in Cathy's book such as different ways to stimulate hair growth (scalp massages, brushing with paddle brush, hair tugging, essential oils and yoga), thyroid and how it affects your hair, no-heat style guide (wrap, split wrap, french roll, roller set and braid out). Nicole also gives different ways and means of giving your hair a break such as braids, slicked to the side and ponytails and she also explains the importance of vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements in details (uses, type, RDA and the amount you need) in order to promote long and heathy hair. Some of the things that Nicole recommends for your hair, Cathy is against it. But basically both books were very informative but I prefer Nicole's book because I gained more information from her book than Cathy's.

You could go to Amazon.com and take a look at the table of contents of each book and compare them.

I hope this helps you in whether or not you decide to purchase this book.

I forgot to add that Porosity Control is a major hit. I think this is very important to use after when doing a deep reconstructor treatment.

HITS:

Nexxus Therappe and Humectress

Rediscovered: Satin Creme Pres

Flat paddle brush

MISSES:

None!

Hit:
NTM DDC
Revlon Realistic Relaxer in Regular-last month I listed it as 'jury still out', but after a few washes, my hair was fine. Not underprocessed or bone straight.

Miss:
Surge mixed with castor oil-my hair felt greasy

Old Favorite Revisited:
Pantene Deep Fortifying Treatment

Major Hit: Paul Mitchel lite detangling spray,
Hit: Keracare Hydrating Detangling shampoo

Tryin' out(as I type!): 10 en 1 Dominican conditioner...

Hits:

Matrix Sleek.Look Conditioner
Paul Mitchell Super Charged Conditioner
BB Mayonnaise & Honey Hair Strengthening Conditioner
Matrix Sleek.Look Sealing Serum
Paul Mitchell The Detangler

Misses:

None

HITS:
1.Queen Helene's cholesterol w/ginseng--hair very moisturized after deep conditioning plus it's very inexpensive

2.Real Black soap used to wash hair--I'd heard about using it as a shampoo, I tried it and my hair is unbelievable soft...after 2 days! That is unheard of ever in my transitioning journey. However I don't think I would use after using heavy products like silicones or straightening creme, it's probably not strong enough

3.Rosewater spritz leave-in--got some rosewater, mixed some spring water, oil, glycerin. Helps detangling and leaves hair soft as well. Does what other detangling leave-ins are supposed to do.

MISS:
None :D

Hit:

Vitale Super Intensive Reconstructor - it's about the consistency and texture of Motions CPR without the herb pieces. It even rinses out the same way. If you get any of the run off near your mouth it leaves that same funny feeling. It has menthol in it and it feels amazing on the scalp - very cool and refreshing. It's a 12 minute heat treatment and it smells great.

HITS:

Optimum Oil Therapy Hair and Scalp Quencher (kept my hair and scalp moisturized but not greasy... I'll buy this stuff till they stop making it!!)

CON Ultra Moisterizing poo (very gentle and was moisterizing)

MISSES:

Mane and Tail Daily Leave-in Conditioning Treatment (did nothing for my hair except make my rollerset stiff)

HAVE TO TRY:

NTM Silk Touch Leave-in Cream (bought to replace MNT... can't wait to try it!!)

MISS : Organic root stimulator olive oil relaxer

WHY OH WHY, did I follow the review I read about this relaxer, and decided to buy this piece of crap !! Can someone say major underprocessed hair ?? I'm soooo mad !! I should have stucked with my cheapy Dark & Lovely !!! :sekret:
Now, I'm agonising on whether or not I should go for a corrective relaxer (3 weeks after, because I just can't stand it), or put on braids.
Either choice will likely lead to breakage anyways, so I'm just discouraged. :(

HITS : Profective healthy ends.

Having reserved judgment until I got a chance to use their products several times in a row, I must say,

Big Hit: All things ELUCENCE. The shampoo really is heavenly, and the conditioner does all it needs to do in one minute. You can't beat that with a stick! I was already in love with the serum...

Also big hits: Giovanni Vitapro Fusion leave-in (good for daily maintenence--basically a liquid version of the Direct leave-in) and
Giovanni Straight Fast straightening gel (although I've mainly been using it without blowdrying. It's good for smoothing down flyaways)

Next on my to try list:
Other Giovanni products (shampoo, conditioner, serum). It would be nice to just use one product line, plus giovanni is easier to find and cheaper as well.

Hit
The Braiding Video (on www.growafrohairlong.com)- okay the video is so low budget it's laughable and you can totally tell when she's just trying to fill up time but it did all it needed to do- it taught me how to braid my own hair- the braids in my hair cost $7.50!

Mixing Humecto, NTM, and Hot Oil Six for deep condition- perfect slip and moisture

The Maxiglide (!)

Juries out
Afro Detangler (also purchased on growafrohairlong). It has great ingredients and gave great moisture but I didn't find the detangling to be that much easier.
