Major Setback I should have known better...ugh

I decided to get a sew in...an what a big mistake. I only had it in 3 weeks cause I didn't like the smell from the sweat after workouts. It was unbearable.

However, my stylist did my sew-in and in two spot My nape and my edges on right side. I felt like it was pretty tight. She told me it would loosen up in a couple of days. Well I started to get those bumps which I knew was a bad sign. Took my sew in out and in those spots I'm bald. I just wanted to cry..still do. I had to get my hair cut all over cause it just looked unhealthy. Now, I'm SL length and hoping by end year I will make APL.

I was thinking of getting box braids next week. Do you think it would be a good idea considering I just came out of a sew in that damage my hair. I will never get a sew in again. I know it works for a lot of ladies in the forum but its not for me. I don't know maybe I should just wear buns until the hair starts to fill in.. I feel like an idiot cause I was afraid of what happen was going to happen. I decided to go ahead and do it any ways.

You need to nurture your hair back to health. Unless you are sure how to do that with box braids, I would suggest against it.

Since your scalp was just irritated by the sew in, I would suggest wearing natural twist or mini twist to give your scalp a break. A wig over cellies would be great as well. My favorite is a nice bun.

Tight weaves and braids are the destruction of your hairline. Take it from me. I cherish my thick edges now. I dropped the weaves and braids years ago and I'm never going back.

You ladies are right. I do need to baby my hair back first before I add extensions that will cause further damage. My scalp is still very sore in those spots. Its funny cause its all I notice at this point...ugh

I had success in the past but damn. I should of known better. I been on this hair journey for over a year and I didn't take heed of the do's and don't's Lesson learned even though its a hard lesson.

In the future you could try wigs instead of sew ins. I'm just doing celie braids underneath a wig. You control how tight your braids are and you can leave them in for weeks at a time, and takedown and detangling is easier

Sorry this happened to you. I agree with what everyone else said, try bunning and stay away from braids for now until your hair grows back in.

No!

No more tension styles. Moisture your edges. Take vitamins. Let your scalp rest.

I would not get braids. At all.

I would do A full wig or nothing. Just let your hair rest.

Sorry this happened to you. Definitely let your scalp recover. The patches will fill in before you know it. Owie tho.

What did your hair stylist say about your spots that she clearly was wrong about?

I think in the future if you ever decide to get a sew in, make sure it's by someone who understands healthy hair. Just because someone is licensed, doesn't mean they can do hair. That's why there's LHCF.

 I lost a lot of hair with my first sew in too. I second wigs. They've been much better for me and I can access my hair. After the mishap with my first sew in I went into half-wigs.

I haven't mention it to her but I just started going to her. This was my first time getting a sew in and with my old stylist I never lost hair. Its my fault cause everything I been reading. I should of not even went there but thanks guys for the advice.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I know firsthand how devastating a setback can be. I agree with everyone else that you should forgo the braids. If you get bored with your hair, wear a wig. I used to do that as a protective style sometimes.

Try wigs. It will allow you to still nurture and care for your hair and edges daily and not have to show it. You would also be causing the less tension to the scalp as well. The extentionist lifestyle is not for everyone.

Please excuse my iPhone; it's trying to get it together

I'm on it already with the castor oil

I have issues with the right side of my hairline. I've been doing castor oil misxed with grapeseed and peppermint essential oil... It seems to work. I mentioned it in another thread...but i have no pics. Im seeing some results. I've been dpomg this for 1 month.
