Membership has waned in the nation's largest Christian bodies -- the Roman Catholic Church and the Southern Baptist Convention -- while mainline Protestant churches continue to shrink, according to the "Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches."

- National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc., 5 million members
- Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, 4.7 million members
- National Baptist Convention of America, Inc., 3.5 million members
- Presbyterian Church (USA), 2.9 million members
- Assemblies of God, 2.9 million members
