Love Lessons From a 10yr old.

So my brother, who is in the 4th grade, has a full blown crush on this African girl in his class. He proclaims his love for her daily. Apparently, she's the smartest, sweetest and "hottest" girl he has ever known. (In his full ten years of life). I checked the class picture and baby bro has good taste.

Here's his dilemma, he knows she likes him because, as he puts it, she smiles at him, but "the problem is" when he tries to sit next to her, she runs.

Me: ((laughing)) Joshua, maybe if you stop acting like a weirdo, she wont run from you. I bet you act silly like you do at home.

Josh
: No I don't!! I don't act like that around her. ((gazing))

Me
: ((sighing as I prepare to put my bro on to how the game goes)) Leave her alone for a day or two. Don't acknowledge her existence.

Josh: Y???

Me
: She'll start to miss the attention and she'll start wondering about you.

Josh: O... but you know what... If she started wanting to be around me all the time and doing what I do, I wouldn't like it

Me
: :perplexed Y Joshua???

Josh: Because I need my space. She would annoy me too much.

Me
: ((:wallbash:)) So wait... you pursue her relentlessly until she gives in and the moment she starts to reciprocate you need your space!!??!!

Josh: :look: What's relentlessly?

Me
: ((calming down because I'm not really mad at this ten year old, I'm mad he didn't tell me this a year and a half ago!!!)) OK Josh, forget it.

Josh:: ((runs off to watch Spongebob just before the tears start to form in my eyes))

I just got schooled by a 10 yr old.

How long you been here? No, WAIT! You're not in the U.S., right? Where are you at or from if you are here?

I`m not in the US at all and have never lived there, which is why I am asking what Americans mean by junior high school, I thought it was the same as primary school. I live in Europe.

Got it!

I was about to say!

I know it's been a long time since I was in 4th grade, but nowhere in the United States is the 4th grade considered junior high! I'm not THAT out of touch

Here in the States, junior high is usually 7th and 8th grades. In some states, it's comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th.

Seems where you're from, the people are more "advanced" than here. What is the legal drinking age, if you don't mind me asking?

And what country in Europe are you located?

Thanks for explaining, I had no idea. I am located in Belgium and here primary school is 1st to 6th grade. The legal drinking age is 18.

I knew it! I KNEW IT was 18!

How young can you be to enlist in the military in Belgium?

What's the average age for a teenage girl to get an abortion without parental consent? Two?

:lachen:

Thanks, Mara... sorry if I sounded "caustic" earlier, but I thought you were here :)

Oh no, I`m not. And although the legal age is 18, people start drinking much earlier. I have no idea about the military and abortion, but since you can`t even get pregnant at two, I think it`s a bit higher lol. Thanks for schooling me.

Oh, yea, that's right! DUH (a pregnant two-year-old)!

:)

Yea, not like it would make any difference as far as the legal drinking age goes.

Some people start at 10 drinking AND...? ;)

That's the cutest story!!! What's his lil behind know about space? lol. Kids are growing up way faster these days. I thought my generation was growing up fast! sheesh

That is what they call it in the US no? Before you go to high school? Or does it mean something else?
A ten year old would be in elementary school. You don't start jr high until you are at least a sixth grader (usually 11 or 12). Usually ten year olds are in the 5th grade, unless they registered for school late.
