Been meaning to do this product review for a few weeks but better late than never.

So this is what it looks like:

I wanted to try it because it promises gentle, full coverage with no drippy mess. Says it gives super duper shine. It's a mousse and has a pretty good color palette. It says it's safe for relaxed hair, and it contains no ammounia or peroxide or any of that damaging stuff and washes out with 8-10 shampoos.

I'm a sucker for fruity looking/smelling hair products, even if it does nothing for my hair. My motto is usually "My ends get pretty dry after using this, but it smells great! *beam*" So I thought this stuff was a winner. I put it in approx. a month ago.

I wanted a reddish tone, without looking like the sun threw up on my head, so I chose the 'Lively Auburn'. Judging by the color palette, my hair would be brown with pretty red highlights. If your hair is particularly long or thick, you need 2 cans. My hair is thick so I used a couple.

You gotta wash your hair first, then put the full contents of the bottle on. It smelled good, but looked icky, like hemmorhage. It almost made me vomit, just looking at it. Relaxed hair has to process for no more than 5 -10 minutes.I have virgin hair as far as coloring goes (albeit that clear rinse I put in a month before),so I left it in for the full 10 minutes. I rinsed and conditioned. When I say my hair was a tangled mess....tell me why I had to put like half a bottle of Motions Nourish on it to get the comb through? And this was AFTER conditioning with LUST! Everyone knows LUST provides slip good enough to break a hip!

And to add insult to injury, the color didn't even take. All that trauma for nothing. It added a *tiny tiny* bit of tint that you could only see at high noon with a magnifying glass. My hair started breaking like crazy a week later and just recovered a week ago. And THAT was only thanks to the MTG.

So the moral is, don't try products you see in teen magazines. I should have known better. They're only 5.49 a bottle. >_< Sleep on it and stick to what you know. I for one am not experimenting with THAT stuff again. Sebastians for my next rinse, or bust.

Hi starian! Sorry you had such a bad experience with this. I also tried this in the plum color. I have relaxed and colored hair but left it on for 30 minutes. I wanted to make sure it took. When I rinsed my hair out, i did notice that my hair was sorta dry and felt kinda hard. I applied conditioner on and let it sit for 10 min. I rinsed and it still felt a little dry. The color turned out really pretty on my hair, but only because the color stuck to my highlights. If I did not have my permanent highlights, I would have been really disappointed with the results. I don't advice this semi hair color for non-dyed hair. You will barely notice the color. It lasted for about 3 days.

I'm sorry Starian that it didn't work for you.
I have tried the "Hot Mahogany" several times and I love it. It's one of the very few rinses that actually color my grey hairs. I always put some deep conditioner on my hair in addition to the color so my hair comes out soft and normal. My grey hairs get a red color and the rest of my hair stays the same color as usual, so I guess if someone doesn't have really light hair to begin with a rinse will not show that much.

I tried a rinse and it didn't really work so I understand the frustration. Great review of the product!

Me too. My product was VIA. I think that was the name of it. I should have known better. It was horrible!! BTW, anyone know how long can you wait before trying another semi-perm color on natural hair? :perplexed
