Would you want to look like your usual self, for example, if you have curly hair you keep your hair curly. Your make up is not drastically different from how you'd normally do it.

Or would you want to look 'different' because it's a special day, for example, you might straighten your hair or have a make up look you would never usually wear.

My aunt thinks you should look different.

My mum thinks you should look like your usual self.

I'm not sure. I wouldn't want to look back at my wedding pictures and think 'who the *** is that?' when looking at myself. But at the same time, I want to look more special on that day than I would on a normal day.

What would you or did you do? I've added a poll.

I think you should have a recognizable classic look....meaning that when I look at the pics I shouldn't be able to guess what year/era we are in. Your wedding day is meant for you to look like a prettier version of yourself but not to the point where you look like a completely different person in pics. I hate heavy duty makeup on brides.

oh and when it comes to something like hair I say try something new but not so extreme that it detracts away from your entire look. if people know you best with straight flowy relaxed hair a wedding is not the time to bust out with a huge Afro and show off your new natural hair you've been keeping under wraps from everyone. Nothing wrong with it but then folks will be fixated on the fact that you went natural and not the whole package.

I love this look for hair.

Look like your best self possible. I think you should amp it up with hair, makeup and body but you should still look like you...I normally wear braids so I'll have my natural hair out. I wear little to no makeup daily so I'll keep a natural look with a focus on eye make up. I don't think whatever you decide to do you'll be unrecognizable.

Also, makeup should look appropriate for the time of day. If you're having an early ceremony, dark and heavy makeup would look silly imo.

I love these looks!

I think you should be ENHANCED. This is not the day for Plain Janine. You should look the best you can look becomes you are starting a new phase where you want the best. I hate pictures of brides where they look like they are going to the altar to be sacrificed.

I wouldn't do heavy fake eyelashes. If I wore them the would be very natural...taking the place of heavy mascara so not to have smears.

Yeah, I agree. I think what most people are saying is the 3rd option. You still look like yourself but a more enhanced version of yourself :yep:.

When I say look like yourself I don't mean not wear any make up or be a plain Jane. I just mean you might wear your everyday make up look.

When I say look different from your normal self I mean, say you're normally someone who wears neutral colour eyeshadow and light make up and for your wedding you decide to wear very heavy make up and really long falsies and a smoky eye or something.

I've seen brides do that and it's not my cup of tea personally. The pics posted above are exactly what I'm thinking of as 'looking like yourself and a little bit different'.

That 3rd woman's face is beat.

I want to look like an enhanced version of me. I don't wear make up daily and can't do fake hair, anything too extreme with either would have me feeling fake too.

Most people's everyday makeup is not photography ready.

I suggest that you allow your make up artist to do a few trial runs then pick the look that best fits the formality of your wedding, time of day, and the wedding version of your personal style.

That's true. But if someone is having a very small, low key wedding they might not care too much about their make up being photograph ready.

This thread is not about me, though. It's just a general question for the board.

What type of look did you have on your wedding?

is there a photographer? Then they need to take that into account when putting on their make up. Otherwise they will end up looking barefaced in photos.
I got married in 2006. It wasn't all that different than the pics posted above. It was a formal night wedding so I wore a plum smokey eye, with a brownish pink lip. The only regret I have is that I insisted on wearing my glasses because I didn't wear contacts and I couldn't see without them. 2 yrs later I got LASIK. Should have done it before the wedding.

Love this pic, minus the lower lashes. I know there is a lot of mu involved, but it looks soft and pretty and feminine. Not drag queenish. Soft brows, even though they are full.

Me neither. I have no idea! I'm leaning towards an updo because that would suit my dress the most but no idea what type of updo.

No, you should wear your hair down and with soft curls since it's normally curly.

I've had this saved even before I got engaged, I just love it.

You're not helping . I'm gonna just try out a few different styles and see what I like best. YouTube will be my friend. Probably try on the dress with them too and see how it looks.

For real. I'm gonna keep this pic for inspiration/ideas. It's legit the sort of thing I had in mind for my look.

I emailed it to myself. Minus the overdone lower lashes, you really cannot pinpoint the period that it was taken in. I love this, just soft touches.

Thank you for sharing! It's gorgeous!

people stay focusing on makeup and hair

aint no one trying to look their usual self else you wouldnt see brides doing crashg diets to lose 25-40lbs before the day so please.
I mean I guess if you're ugly you would want to look totally different:lachen: but everyone that I've seen try to really go all out and look different to wow everyone looked a HAM.
