Hi Ladies,
I have been lurking off and on for ages. Wanted to tell you all that this is an excellent board and I have learned a ton about caring for my hair. My hair is a bit layered, but is BSL at the longest length. I have been reading all of the great henna posts and I am going to henna tonight. I got a little over enthused after reading the posts and bought 10 boxes, but I'll post some pictures to show my results.

You got the good stuff! (so I hear.) Welcome to board and come back with pictures. I plan to henna so I need to order my stuff now.

Welcome Egg! Good luck with your henna. Please let us know how it turns out. I am awaiting some Jamila and need all the encouragement I can get. Can't wait to hear your recipe!

I hennaed last night.

My recipe (I will also post this in the henna recipe thread):
I used 100g Jamila henna
Three capfuls of ACV
50/50 cheap, cheap, cheap red wine and purified water (I will try distilled next time to see if there is a difference)
I also added a bit of strongly brewed coffee because I got a little worried that it would be too red (around a cup I think)

I know people have different preferences as far as consistency goes, but my end product was pudding consistency which worked really well for me. This is my first time using henna, but I did not have very much mess at all with this consistency. I sectioned my hair into about eight little buns/bantu knots and then did one section at a time front to back. After I finished a section I sort of crossed it to the other side of my head and at the end I had a sort of helmet of hair covered in henna and squished it in a bit before putting a plastic baggie over my hair. I left it on with no heat under a towel for around 2 hours.

I am going to post pics shortly, but I need to go outside in the natural light so you can really see the effect because it is harder to tell indoors. Next time I am going to eliminate the coffee altogether because as the rest of you know the effect from one application is not that dramatic.
