What is the one product that keeps/kept your hair together as you transitioned? What is/was your ONE (or two) products that are/were must haves?

I am thinking about transitioning without cutting the length of my hair (the SouthernTease route...her blog is great) but I am going to have to build an arsenal of must haves if I am going to do this thing without my hair breaking off...

My 2 best friends are coconut oil and using a mild protein weekly.
Without these two, I think my hair would not still be on my head.

A good daily moisturizer, a moisturizing DC, and mild protein. That's technically three things but my hair wouldn't have survived without them.

Moisturizer: glycerin/ distilled water/ aloe vera juice/ essential oil spritz or Jane Carter Solution Nourish and Shine (I'm about to switch to shescentit's Gillian No Tears Butter :yep:)

Moisturizing DC: AO HSR

Mild Protein: AO GPB or ORS Replenishing Packs

Detangling deep conditioners (Pantene Relaxed & Natural Deep Conditioning Mask and Pantene Time Renewal Mask work well for me) and using my Jilbere shower comb to detangle are important for me.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm considered a long-term transitioner just yet (7 months post), but my Jilbere shower comb, deep conditioning, and learning to do a good co-wash and wash and go have been life savers.

Also, I feel like the act of transitioning + the help of this board have been instrumental in me taking much better care of my hair overall. I'm much more aware of it.

Good luck with your transition!

Co-washing with Suave torical coconut has been a life saver for me. I also cant go without my ic fantasia gel to get everything pulled back neatly.

Jilbere shower comb for detangling (with Denman as an honorable mention, took more effort and works better with natural than transitioning)

Creme of Natural detangling conditioner (nothing else would give me slip)

honorable mentions are Suave conditioners (mainly because it was part of my co-wash and leave it alone routine), water :) (because wetting more seemed to keep it more moisturized and less prone to being crunchy and straw like), and Oyin Whipped Pudding for moisture

My regimen and staples (see siggy) have helped tremendously! And I do a lot of protective styling (right now my faves are braidouts, wet buns, and updos with hair zings).

I'm right there with you, shishi...i'm thinking about doing the EXACT same thing...but I don't know how my soft/fine hair would be able to make the transition....*subscribing*:spinning:

I love your hair btw:yep:

These styles are what I will be doing this time around. What helped me when I transitioned before were Creme of Nature Detangling Shampoo, Pantene Detangle Light Spray Conditioner and wearing braidouts.

I'm kinda late seeing this thread. but here are mine.

Utensils - Jilbere shower & Denman brush

Thick & Creamy Conditioners - Silicon Mix & LeKair Cholesterol

Oils - Coconut Oil or Vatika Oil

When using direct heat - CHI Silk Infusion

Also, a staple style ( I chose cornrows)

And when it gets tough & frustrating. Detangle under water.

PRODUCTS:
HENNAAAAA!!!!!
VO5 with some honey, avocado oil and sweet alomond oil. For cowashes.
My latest raves Qhemet Biologic. The Olive Honey and Amla and Olive hair creme.
Elucence MB and shampoo

cowashing.
I've found that when I cowash I HAVE to detangle at least once a week now.

STYLES:
Braid-outs.
Braids.

I also use the Chi Iron....and my trusty Conair!
I don't care if it doesn't distribute heat properly!

And chi silk infusion.

Oooo. I don't know if I can narrow it down to two. :scratchch

Okay, the top two would be my creme rinse conditioner/suave milks conditioner and Sabino Moisture Block serum. Two other must-haves: Jilbere showercomb and Denman brush. These four things keeps transitioning from feeling like a chore. I actually look forward to doing my hair.:yep:
