Long Hair Ladies Do You Shed Alot?

Hello Ladies,

My daughter hair is pass her bottom. I believe it to be type 2a.
No matter how much I comb ......whether slowly or detangling with hand first her hair sheds. Alot. I can comb it and then run my hands down her hair and pull out strands....after strand.
I condition wash her hair about every 3 days.
She has no bald spots, no flaky scalp. Does this sound normal for you super long hair ladies?

My hair sheds what seems like a lot to me. After I wash it, I usually have enough hair to roll into a ball about the size of a big golf ball.

I've noticed depending on the time of year, sometimes it sheds a little more, sometimes a little less, but it's never "barely any" or just a few strands!

Are you natural. My little girl is. I hadn't thought about the time of year. Perhaps it is winter head shed. It just seems like so much. My eldest has type 3a and hers is long as well. She doesn't shed near as much.

It depends on the time of the year with me. I shed a lot in the fall (maybe about 50 strands a day). But not much in the winter, spring or summer. When I comb my hair now I barely see about 1 or 2 strands of hair coming out on the comb.

My hair is not super long, but it always sheds a lot. That just seems to be normal for me, so I don't stress about it. I've been wearing my hair natural for over a year.

Sterry,

Is it actually a lot or does it just look like a lot? Since we're long haired girls, a few of our long strands together can look like a lot. Know what I mean?

I remember seeing a picture of your daughter's hair (just beautiful).

I agree, 10-15 strands of long hair can look like MUCH more. It's normal to shed *up to* 100 hairs per day. I don't think I've ever met or heard about anyone who actually sheds quite that much though!

As for me, I'm pretty lucky. I don't shed much.

I would say it is more than 15 stands. I am talking at least 30 or 40. And it is every day.
Just this morning I got more hair.

shedding is what my hair does best (every day) ... LOL...as long as i do not see any bald spots, i have learned not to stress it.....smile...

Same here. I only detangle my hair every three weeks or so, so I don't stress about it.

Ohh Thank God. I needed to read this . I just took out my crownrows yesterday after wearing it for 2 weeks. And I almost cried, because of all the hair I had in my hands. Even today, I was still seeing hair falling out.

My hair hair sheds a lot as well, I would say I get between 50-70 hairs per day. I have never seen a blad spot, or a thin spot for that matter, so I don't worry about it.

ITA. My hair does the same.
Nowadays I only use my hands for detangling while my hair is saturated with conditioner.
I am natural and I believe Nay is too.

Mine varies: on wash day I lose about 100 strands and other days anywhere from 5 to 20 strands. My hair is BSL only when stretched.
