Long hair doesn't look good on me

My hair is naturally very dark. I'm afraid to lighten it because I don't want to damage my hair with double processing. I just use tinted cellophanes to cover the gray.

I guess I need to look into my eyebrows. I wouldn't even know where to start....

Look into threading them, I think full brows come out best threaded.

I agree with threading! You have nice full eyebrows, the BEST to work with to get the perfect eyebrow shape! I wish I had full eyebrows to work with!

Hi again. The reason that your thread pulled me in is that your hair color reminds me of my mom and grandma. My mom is mid seventies with what I call shiny raven black hair. My grandma wore a gray wig so the church ladies would stop gossiping about her trying to be young.....dyeing her hair too dark and what-not. Your hair is beautiful and you def don't want damage so just go with layers to take some heaviness off the bottom.

I cut my long hair last week. It is in a mohawk. It suits my personality much better. My hair will grow super long but I feel like I look like Cousin It because I'm short. My hair is very voluminous as well so it is always big and overpowering.

I'm over the long hair thing. I want to have fun and be free. Spendi.g hours on hair isn't my thing anymore or worrying about damaging it. That can hold you hostage just like relaxed hair (I am natural)

I love my hair short. I can see my earrings now and I don't have to worry about it snagging on my necklace. I feel sexy and noticing other assets to me other than hair like pretty skin, nice makeup, etc.

That(in my avatar) is my mohawk straighened into a bob. When I wet it it curls up and sticks straight up. I love it.

Yeah. I don't look great with long hair. I look much better with layers.

TBH I Can see what you mean from the pics even though your hair is really nice. I think a new hair cut with shorter layers in the front may do the trick.

You only have to watch the first 10-12 seconds, of the video, to see her hair in its curly and straight state. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6nACZ_9PgM However, I would seriously think hard, before getting layers, they're a rhymes with witch to grow out if you don't like them.

I like FoxxyLocs eyebrow shaping idea. If you still want to explore layers, try that software where you upload a photo of yourself and play around with different hairstyles on the computer.

When it's straightened and them curled it looks ok. But the curls start to fall pretty soon and then it stats to make me look old. I have thought about layers but will the same cut look good on straight and curly hair? I don't have a picture with my face showing. These will have to do for now, and my curls are still somewhat holding up on these pics.

Maybe I am now of a certain age and shouldn't wear long hair :-(

GettingKinky I love your hair it looks so nice. try it with a part down the middle and if the curls fall then pin curl them at night. or bantu knots. and I think what you do want is layers. and if you get them get it cut while it is curly so they will not cut too much off.

I understand what you're saying (given the pics) but I think that you need to layer the front a little bit to soften your face and let go of the jet black hair.

That is of course if you want to keep the long hair.

Short hair is great too and if you like it, go for it. It's hair it grows back

I feel you, I'm the same way at times. Maybe some of it has to do with face shape as well. Not sure what your face shape is, but I have a long face. When my hair gets longer it drags my face down with it. But if I keep it around a medium length...it compliments my face shape better.

Your hair looks beautiful to me, but as others have stated, its about how you feel. I agree with cutting some long layers to help frame your face.

Ugh, I am so jealous of you! I want to be free too. Long hair is nice to have but for me its just not as freeing(maybe because I am obsessing with length goals). Do you think you will ever grow it out again?

I vote layers. It will give you more dimension. Then if you don't like the layers you can just cut it again.
