BlackMasterPiece Really? To me, it's more akin to "curl definition." :look:
The "curl definition" thing is another aspect of the good hair fixation as well. Reality Check: The vast majority of us do not have any curls to define:look: we have coils. Big difference.

These men are essentially trying to get their hair to mimic looser hair textures that lay down and wave up naturally when cut short. The vast majority of these men do not have hair that was meant to behave that way.

One of these days I hope we collectively realize that our hair is not a problem that needs fixing; and we dont have to mimic other hair textures to look beautiful.

This is too funny. I was JUST talking to my brother about this this past weekend. I think more guys check out sites like this than we think. He even showed me a YouTube video of this guy that has horizontal waves (ear to ear instead of front to back) showing how he cuts HIS OWN HAIR to achieve his "special" waves. Haha.

One day I was on Youtube looking for reviews on the Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste(or whatever its called) I came across a review from a dude so I clicked on it. He used it for his waves. After that video I spent about 2 hours (don't judge me) watching wave tutorials SMH.

They are really serious about waves.

GreenEyedJen

Where is this tutorial. I'm kind of curious to see this myself

I think thats a reach.. rather a leap. Also I disagree that the "vast majority of us dont have curls" ?? What?! Take a look in the hair typing threads. Curls galore.

Also this comment..

"...hair that was meant to behave that way..."

The same argument could be made for a braidout or a twistout. Because I do a braidout Im trying to put my hair in a way that it wasnt "meant to behave"?

I saw in one thread they had a method of brushing their hair every 3 mins for AN HOUR...I know some ppl take an hour to detangle or style, but no reason for anyone (especially a man lol) to be spending an hour on less than .5 inches of hair lol

that's dedication right thurr

OMG I missed that!!! :lachen::lachen::lachen:
I'll have to send DH to that website. I've never seen waves in his hair. I feel so robbed :nono:

Yeah...I'm not sure who "us" is :look:. The majority of black men and women that I know have curls and waves. A coil is a type of curl, anyway. While there are *some* black people who have very cottony hair with hard-to-define, nearly nonexistent curls, I actually think that hair type is extremely rare.

As far as a fixing a problem, I agree with the other poster...reaching...no offense!

well, kinda... lol

i recently bought nubian heritage edge taming taffy during the walgreens BOGO sale & was googling for reviews, and one of the 1st links was

http://www.wavebuilder.com/training/showthread.php?t=28868

so i clicked on the review (which was pretty in-depth by the way), but basically its a lhcf for guys who want to get waves lol...

i was lurking on there for a bit & they're so into their products & have regimens like us, and use alot of the stuff we use..they even put their products and what kind of brushes they use in their siggies :giggle:

anyways, i thought it was random/cute/weird :look:...we're not alone lol

The format is even the same!!! Love it!

I've been lurking that site since I last posted in here. LOL @ their logo.

For serious wave training power! :lachen: They serious over there.

Its comparable to "stretching"...they go 6-8 weeks or as long as they can without getting a fresh cut, while they continue to brush their hair and train their waves lol

And literally...compared to looking untamed like a wolf! lol you know how their fur sticks out all over the place? SO and his sons will need to shave or get a haircut and get on one another like "You're wolfin, son, go handle that!" lol

Hilarious. My hubby looked at this and SHDH...His hair is naturally wavy so he can't relate to the struggle...I wonder if the type 3 Girls feel the same way about the type 4 girls that are always tying to "make the curls pop" and whatnot.

Maybe I'm used to seeing "360 waves" but I never knew what the big hype was about getting them.

Dang this thread looked like it was only 1pg from my phone o__O

Now that i've skimmed....LOL. They are just as looney as we...ahem...some women are about curl definition. I wonder what would happen if I signed up for the site like what that Egyptian dude did here...hmmmmmm
