I thought this might be a good thread for people who are new and need tips up to those of us who have been here awhile.
We see different things "wonderful regimines" etc. scattered all over LHCF, so I thought it would be nice to list them here.

I'll start:
For me, my hair would not respond to anything until

MN and Neo.
Henna ...also helped in strengthening my hair, but I don't use it anymore.

Now my hair is healthier and continues growing without these products.

I am so grateful for LHCF

I know this may not be in line with the posting but one of my answers is water.

Yep good ole fashion water, misting, spraying, using with cowashing. Moisture, just like in the jehri curl days, everyone's head was moist or wet and it helped with growth.

Other than that I would say Ayurvedic powders and products have helped with my growth and maintenance of my hair.

Lenzi Request works for me.

maybe 30 years ago Sulfur 8 worked for me but now it is too strong and blisters my scalp.

MN and MTG really produced Great results for Me, As well as several techniques I've learned here, Especially Deep Conditioning and Low Maintenance.

It's not exactly a product but I must give kudos to upping the protein intake (steak, beans, chicken, protein shakes) and scalp massages with coconut oil weekly.

HOW MUCH GROWTH DID U GET WITH THE MTG. I ALWAYS WONDERED DID IT REALLY WORK OR WAS IT JUST ABOUT HYPE. CUZ I KNOW US GIRLS GO CRAZY OVER OUR HAIR

  • Keep my hair ans scalp clean
  • Moe's Grow
  • Protein intake (i'm on a high protein diet, is definetly working)
I guess that should be it for me. :drunk:

I totally agree about the water. :yep:

You know, I really like this thread.
So far, it displays one of the most important things I learned about our hair and that is everyone's different.
Water...always works for my hair
The 'carefree curl' will break my hair off...doesn't work.
My hair is on and off when it comes to conditioners
And MTG did not do a thing for me and I still have 1/2 bottle left...LOL

Yes Mam it does work for Me, I used both on seperate occasions, I tried the MN first and it gave Me twice or should I say 3 times the amount of growth that I normally get, I am an extreme Slow-Grower, at .33 per Month, when using MN I got 1 Inch in 1 Month, but the down side was that it caused really bad headaches and I am already a Migraine sufferer, so that was not good, it also caused Me to suffer from a bout of Tinnitus, which is terrible ringing in the ears, which has different causes and one cause is from certain medications, which I did'nt Know until later. As for the MTG It gave Me 3/4 of an Inch in 4 Weeks and I measured it by putting really tight cornrows in at the start of using and documented the growth on the exact Monday 4 weeks from the start, I am doing a Mini-Challenge with Myself till the first Week of January, so I keep it braided up under Wigs. I think that My system lacks the sufficient amount of Sulfur required for normal hair growth rate, cause My nails are also very fine and fragile and My skin is very dry, which are indications of Low-Levels of Sulfur, but if You have the sufficient amount then it may not help, I don't know, but it sure helped Me.

I have a high protein diet (vegan) so I also eat my veggies, etc.
You may have a good point. :yep:

low manipulation and co washing definitely
i think megatek helped with little growth and thickness.

Lenzi's Request thickened my hair in '06 (the first and last time I ever used it). My hair was naturally thick and coarse to begin with so I never thought about it after that. I might give it another go since my hair is starting to thin out a little.

It's too bad I don't know the ingredients because if I did, I would try it on my 4-year-old. Her edges are still having a hard time growing in.

Growth aids that worked for me:

-Sulfur 8 Medicated Scalp Pomade (yellow jar)
-Parnevu Tea Tree Oil Growth Pomade (grey jar, black top)
-Sulfur 8 Loc, Twist, and Braid Oil
-Shapeley's Mane-Tail Groom
-Profectiv Anti-Thinning Circulation Stimulant (did wonders to fill in my edges completely)
-B&B Super Gro

ETA: The thread said list "Hair Growth Products" so I didn't list the myriad of techniques that I've employed over the years to get and retain growth/length.

MTG is a big one
Sulphur 8 (yellow jar)
Ayurveda was another biggie
Increasing my protein and iron are more big hits

Mega Tek and Bee Mine...see the hair blog for progress pics. (I also have to credit DCing and patience :)

I did notice thicker NG after massaging with Mega-tek a couple nights a week. WHY did I ever stop?

Thank you this was very very helpful, im a little torn though, i wonder if i should get megatek or bee mine, which one smells better? also can someone tell me what MTG stands for?

I'm not sure about Bee Mine but Megatek smells pretty good. MTG stands for Main, Tail, and Groom. It's made by a company called Shapley's. (Not to be confused with Mane and Tail by Straight Arrow).

Thanks a lot, i think i may get mega tek.

My go-to growth product is Boundless Tresses. :yep: The Revitalizing Hair Balm did wonders for my hair and my scalp. :yep:

I bought my Grandma a jar of Surge and she loves it. She's 85 and the hair on her temples is growing back for the first time in years.
For me its biotin for stronger hair/faster growth.
I also got good results with Ovation.
My hair also responds well to any form of sulfur-oral MSM, Boundless Tresses, and Surge.
I had a bald spot from a too-tight weave. Pure clove oil brought my hair back in that spot when none of the above seemed to work.
