Length Vs Style: Would you sacrifice your hair goals for style?

I am about to....

long hair with no umph is blah to me....

I *love* to see a woman with a nice haircut. It is an eyecatcher.:yep: Got everyone turning heads.

Heck no!:nono: Long hair is much more important to me than some little trendy style that won't be fashionable anymore in 6 months or a year anyway. Meanwhile I'm stuck with short hair that's gonna take years to grow out.

Nope, no way.:nono:

Right now since I am trying to get to my ultimate goal of bsl I woudn't scarifice my hair goals for style. However, once I do reach my goal, I plan on doing more styles and less protective styling.

I also agree w/some of the posters that you can find a balance. Some days you can wear it down and other days up-also when protective styling-you can still make it cute. Youy can still have style and reach your hair goals-Also-I agree that wigs, weaves can help switch up a style in a minute without you making drastic changes.

Personally-I love the new short cuts and if I had the face shape, i would get it in a second. But overall- I focus on trying to still look cute (my perception of it anyway :look:-and have healthy hair.

Now that I've found LHCF I prefer length over style. Although sometimes I miss my short hair cuts...:ohwell:

This is so me. I wore a BC for 8 straight year and LOVED it. I actually think I look better w/ my boycut. There are times when I am cutting my husbands hair and I actually think about cutting my hair back into my BC. But this long hair thing is a new chapter in my life, so I will continue on this path....

Never, hair health comes first. I remember in elementary and high school, when I would cut and break off my hair to get it into certain styles, figuring that it didn't matter, because it was gelled down or camouflaged into some sort of style. I actually cringe now that I look back on those days :nono:

I swear is still get a positive feel good when I see that! It is verrrryyyy eye catching. I wore it short for many years, and I know I say this alot, nothing else on me turned more heads. Sometimes I wonder, what am I doing all this for?:nono: But, this is a decision I have made, and I am sticking with it. It it doesn't work out, then I will go back.

No, as long as it's thick and healthy looking I'm good to go but I am not going to sacrifice length for a certain style.

Because I alternate between buns and wearing my hair out, I HAVE to have a cute shape to my hair. I hated that TWA grow out phase so much (not the TWA, just growing it out) that I had to get a few shape ups just to keep it looking OK. My last shape up was cutting my hair into the shape of a long bob while it was straightened so that when it dries curly, it's a shorter bob. It's starting to grow out of that now and I'm going to wait until the end of the summer to see what it looks like then before I decide what I'm going to do, but I am not above putting some scissors to this hair to keep it looking cute.

Lately I haven't been doing anything to my hair but co-washing daily and putting in ponytails out of laziness, plus I'm 13 weeks post. I find that I can get both length and style cuz the only thing I do to my hair is rollersetting, which is healthy for the hair anyway. I have never, in recent years, wanted to use curling irons, blowdryers, flat irons or any type of heating appliances cuz the curls I get from rollersetting are superior to what those tools could give me. When I get my touch-up in June, I'm going to try to co-wash just every other day and rollerset my hair and hope that it can dry overnight and I won't be sacrificing any length retention.

it all depends on how i'm feeling. most of the time i wear my hair back due to my workout schedule and frequenty cowashing/ponytail wearing that i have to do. sometimes though i just want to enjoy looking at my hair, wearing it down or some cute kind of style...which usually involves using heat...which makes it harder for me to retain length but oh well, it is what it is :)

I really miss my short cut. I received a lot of compliments with it but right now I'm going for length over style. Once my hair is a decent length (BSB) my hair MAY come out of hiding more often.
