Leave In Conditioner = Daily Moisturizer

does any of you ladies use your leave in as a daily moistuizer? for instance, i'm planning on experimenting with my nexxus headdress as a daily moisturizer. does that sound like a good idea?

I use headress for my daughter's hair - Headress is somewhat thick - but her hair loves it (her hair is very very thick and thirsty) I do find that I may need to do clarifying wash at times because the product can build up. Also you might want to put a few drops of your favorite oil in it.

I also wonder if it would be good to do this. I think the only problem might be product build-up. I usually only wash my hair once (or twice) a week, so that might be a problem using the leave-in every night for a week w/o washing it out.

If you're washing your hair every 3 or 4 days this wouldn't be an issue. This would be a great way for me to use up some of the many leave-ins I have!!

Anyone else have any thoughts on this??

I agree with Lindy-- using it everyday does result in a lot of buildup. I like to use it as a moisturizer (mixed with a few oils like jojoba or olive), but only once or twice a week because I wash every two weeks.

I've been using my leave-in conditioner as a daily moisturizer for a LONG time. It's been a good thing for my hair. I do use my regular ole moisturizers from time-to-time as well.

I use S-curl no drip kind on my head along w/Motions oil moisturizer and Breakthru's stuff for helpin my hair to not break off so easily. This last the whole day on2 the next. Esp. in the top middle of my head if i leave that part alone or in a bun. I like it. Just started it hasn't been a week yet but its good so far. But i guess all of this stuff in my head puts in buildup, right?

I used to use HE leave-in conditioner and I used it everyday to moisturize (I washed once a week). Originally I did it because I like the smell, but it did keep my hair nice and moisturized. It's pretty light so I didn't seem to have build-up problems. By the way this is a spray liquid, not a cream.

blackcardinal, do you spray your hair when it's wet or dry? i think my nexxus headdress maybe a lil too heavy for daily moisture. and because i wash only 2 times a week, i think i should find something lighter, like the HE leave-in mentioned. thanks again for the suggestions everyone.

Patticake, I'm late, but I use my leave-in (H-two) whenever necessary on dry hair. If my hair feels a little dry I'll spray at night before wrapping. If I don't need to do it the following night, I simply wrap without the leave-in. I think a spary leave-in would be fine to use everyday.

I use a leave-in every day to moisturize. I usually dampen my hair with KMS Silker leave-in and apply a tiny bit of Kiehl's Silk Groom on my ends before going to bed. I wake up with smooth, sleek hair. This works great for me.

Hmmm... I have Kiehl's Silk Groom and it's just sitting in the cabinet. Maybe I should try using it in that way too, Tee. I will definitely only use a little though, cuz that stuff is pretty thick.

patticake, I agree w/ adding oil to the Headdress because it does not impart shine to the hair...can make it a little dull. When I add Keracare Essential oils to it, its much shinier and still moisturizing. also, try Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangling lotion (thanx LondonDiva). But be advised that it has protein in it...

Allandra-

What kind of leave-in conditioner are you using? And do you experience any build-up from it?

· Clairol Renewal 5x Daily Nourishment
· Kiehl’s Leave-In Conditioner
· L’Oreal Nature’s Therapy Unfrizz Taming Crème

No, I don't experience any build-up.

I know Supergirl; I don't really like it either!! It's too expensive, first of all, and secondly, it has such a weird mediciney, chemical smell...

and it weighs your hair down if you use too much.
