Laying down the kitchen?

Hello! I am wondering what is the best way to get the kitchen area to lay down? I have seen videos on youtube and in my own hair how it seems the whole head can get straight and the hair will lay down, but in the kitchen the hair tends to be.. puffy?.. not as relaxed?.. It tends to be more at a 45 degree angle instead of laying down flat. Before I commence with relaxing my hair I would like to know how to fix this. Thank you in advance!

I think the "kitchen" or the nape of the hair is really tricky. When relaxing, some people apply the relaxer there last because the area can be prone to breakage, but in my case the hair there is really really coarse and can be "puffier" like you said.

I think it really depends on your individual hair. Just make sure no matter what you do to neutralize this area because it tends to get missed, and people end up with breakage! The more you self relax the more you will get a better feel for how long to leave the relaxer on different areas to get the straight look you want. My whole head usually ends up underprocessed though so I might not be the best person to give advice!

Good luck!

So, are you saying this area doesn't get relaxed enough? That is why it ends up puffy?

I am not going to relax for a couple of months, so I am gathering as much info as I can now! I am thinking about relaxing in sections, and maybe I will make the kitchen its own separate section.

Water then whipped shea butter and gel (like Eco Styler). Comb thru thoroughly. Wrap with a scarf until dry. Then voila. HTH!

Works best on a kitchen that is well conditioned; so start of with a fresh wash and DC.

I have to laugh every time I hear or see kitchen! It's so funny to me.

We never called it that when I was growing up.:lachen:
