have u tried vitamins? mtg is supposed to speed up growth as well.

Since March my hair has grown about 7.5 inches so I'll chime in. I drink 64oz or more of water daily and I take vitamin supplements. I avoid fried foods and watch portions. I use soymilk, instead of regular milk (don't know if this helps though) I also make a effort to eat a tomato rich meal at least once a week(Shrimp creole, spaghetti, etc.) I also eat fish at least 2x per week. I could do better with green leafy vegetables though:look: HTH!

Thanks for the responses ladies.
Yea, supplements are great but taking them with a already non-existant diet doesnt allow for them to work at their best. I want to get more through diet.
Catina, I love tomatoes and fish....so I can eat more of that along with drinking alot of water.
Anything else ladies?.....what about veggies/beans/nuts/fruits?

Girl, I am definately trying:D I actually purchase my supplements online thru a company called Organic-Pharmacy, on EBay and the EFA's are by "Now" and they say Omega 3-6-9 on the bottle. Two softgels a day:)

Thanks girl;) One more question, whats the purpose of them? I take it that they are for hair growth?? Im sorry for the questions

Catina,
How are you applying the M-T-G? Are you doing anything to cut the smell? I have just started out with it but the smell gives me a headache

My hair has gone from nape lenght to bottom of neck in a month in a half. I think thats a bout 2 inches. The only thing I can think that attributed to this freakish growth spurt is my increase in eating homemade meals and a lot of meat. I also gained 7 lbs  But the point is that I think the fat and protien in the meat has helped with my growth. Also I had been taking a vitamin especially designed for women.

I also had my hair braided in what I like to call banana braids, which really help to stop shedding and helps to keep your hair thick while in braids.

As a matter of fact I think I'm gonna do this again next month, but this time I'll choose leaner meats and go to the gym...maybe once or twice;)

i'm a broke ass student too so my diet really sucks. i add biotin (5000 mcg) and so far i haven't noticed a huge increase in growth. maybe my hair is helpless and grows slow no matter what.

Rinygirl, What kind of homeade meals did you eat....like give me an example meal. I love meat....and i actually need to gain at leat 10 lbs. This way, i can kill two birds with one stone.

Shunta- I have used EFA's for several years now. I used to manage a weight loss center and it was one of the supplements we recommended for several different reasons like, easing PMS symptoms, natural way to lower cholesterol levels while increasing HDL (the good one), helps with clearer skin, smoother skin and shinier hair. Lots of other reasons but mostly for overall well being.

Amina Kamal- I have used the MTG in a applicator bottle with the pointed tip to apply directly to the scalp and then kinda rub in. I mix mine with Surge 14, peppermint oil and Hot six oil. I don't know the exact measurements but I'd say 50%mtg, 50% Surge 14 and the oils to help the smell. HTH! I also use 2x per week on freshly airdryed hair. So each application is untouched for 3 days. No reapplying either. Been using since end of May too.

I ate a lot of beef that month, like roast beef with carrots and mashed potatoes. Meatloaf, beef stew, hamburger, ect... I ate other meat like pork and tuna....but mostly beef. Of course all that meat is not good for you because there were some side effects.....

But if you just maybe eat meat once a day and fish once a day, and lots of fruit and veggies for digestion and ruffage(?) you should be fine.

Another thing to be careful with....my cousin is a small little thing and she tried to gain weight, by eating ALL the wrong things (i.e. big mac's over eating, ect...) and she's still small but now she has high cholesterol. Her Doctor suggested protien shakes instead of so much meat.

That's a good idea. Maybe you make a protein shake and add fruits and yogurt to it. That way you get your servings of fruits and protein in at the same time. Plus since you're a college student on the run - it's a portable meal/snack.

I am now a raw vegan and my hair has been growing like crazy!

I cut about 1.5" about 2 weeks ago and it is already back where it was:eek: I don't take supplements anymore and I drink carrot, apple, and ginger juice every other day. My nails are stronger and longer too:)

I eat tons of nuts, berries, veggies, and fruit daily, and lots of water.

Sorry Catina, but one more question pretty pleaase??? What are your staples as far as poos, conditioners etc?

Amina I pm'd you, so I can really explain my stuff to you:lol:

I just started adding more fruit and less fried foods. My diet is still not perfect, but my hair has grown 2" in the front, 3" in the sides and 2" in the nape. I am starting to believe the diet is helping my hair. Fruits, nuts, berries...it's all good.:D

From what Ive gathered reading everyone's input is that a healthy diet is the contributing factor. Not so much as growth aides which Im sure may help, but it really seems like water and a good diet is the key. Im taking notes.:D

For me, it's not what I've been eating, but my vitamins, but then again, I've always tried to maintain a reasonably healthy diet. I've been taking a regular multi-vitamin, grape seed extract, Nioxin Recharging Complex and a hair, skin and nails vitamin (right now I'm taking Futurebiotics brand.) I've been gaining about an inch a month of new growth in the back of my head.

Protein and more protein!!!

My hair grows very fast, and I will attribute it's growth over the years to protein (and supplements - HF37).

Also, I eat 2 boiled eggs almost everyday. Protein defintely works!
