Ladies who transitioned from relaxed to texturized

I have a couple of questions.

How long was your hair when you decided to transition?

How long did it take to transition?

What was the length of the texturized hair when you cut off all of the fully relaxed hair?

Was it difficult dealing with the two textures?

How did you wear your hair while transitioning?

Do you have any pictures of your transition that you don't mind sharing?

I may add more question, but this is all I can think of right now

My hair was ~3 in. past my shoulders.
I transitioned for 1 yr.
I did mini chops, but my hair was ~3 in above shoulder length when I did my final chop.
I had a hard time with the 2 texturizers at first, but then I found this board. Wetting my hair daily has saved me stress.
Twistouts were my best style for this. I would lose too much hair when I'd wear my hair straight.

I hope this works, I'm having trouble sending this!

How long was your hair when you decided to transition? MY hair was 3 inches past shoulders.

How long did it take to transition? I didn't transition, I just decided that I wanted a texturizer. I had 6 inches of NG, because I'm a constant stretcher.

What was the length of the texturized hair when you cut off all of the fully relaxed hair? I remained at shoulder length because I gradually cut off my straight ends.

Was it difficult dealing with the two textures? At first it was but I wore my hair in twistouts or braided to work with both textures. I made sure that my ends stayed moisturized (I used shea/mango butters)

How did you wear your hair while transitioning? Braids, twistouts, knotouts, braidouts, buns.

Do you have any pictures of your transition that you don't mind sharing? I don't have any pics of transitioning but if you check my album you'll see my twistout style. I have 5+ months of NG at this time, I use twistouts to work with both textures. here's the link...www.fotki.com/nubian7, password is hair.

I may add more question, but this is all I can think of right now

I started trans'n the begining of this year. My avatar is where I started. I only get my ends clipped. I can see the two textures when its wet because my ends a thin and straight. My stylist says that my relaxed hair is nearly gone . I could never get the nerve to do a big chop. I were a bun on ponytail and condition wash and oil my ends all the time. The baggie method is good too. ;)

I've just added some pics in the photo gallery and you can see thru my ends

Thanks for responding Yokurt. Your hair is gorgeous. I have a few more questions. Is it difficult to deal with the 2 textures? What was your stylist's opinion about transitioning from fully relaxed to texturized? Did he or she think it was a good idea? Is your hair healthier and stronger now? Sorry for all of the questions. If I decide to transition I want to go into it with my eyes wide open.

When I went to my stylist for the first time it was because it was thick I could barely find my scalp and I knew I could no longer trust my self trying to relax with out having it all fall out. The stylist was so happy to hear me talk about the health of hair rather than the typical fry, dye, lay it to the side. I told told her I learned about streching from the forum. She wanted to help me and said we were right not to over process the hair and that is a common problem she finds at the shop with other techs. It you want you hair straight that's what the flatiron is for. We are woking with chemicals. Chemicals on top of chemicals never souds healthy. She was inpressed that we are knowledgeable about protein treatments too. Another reason I go to a stylist is because of the water pressure. I know when I go to her I will get a good wash and rinse after the chemical service. I uses to use my shower head, but the pressuse wasn't all that.

I have a couple of questions.

How long was your hair when you decided to transition?
My hair was just touching my shoulders

How long did it take to transition?
2+ years, I'm still transitioning

What was the length of the texturized hair when you cut off all of the fully relaxed hair?
I still have about 2 inches to cut off

Was it difficult dealing with the two textures?
Yes, it was very difficult the first year. Elucence and Humecto made my transition easier.

How did you wear your hair while transitioning?
Braid-outs, buns, and flat ironed once in a full moon.

Do you have any pictures of your transition that you don't mind sharing?
I never took pictures of my actual transition because I was focusing on length but you can see the thinner ends in my pictures. I only have a small amount pics on fotki.

I may add more question, but this is all I can think of right now

Hope this helps :)

How long was your hair when you decided to transition? Mid-neck length

How long did it take to transition? No time at all: I simply used twists and braids w/ extensions to lessen the tension and constant manipulation.

What was the length of the texturized hair when you cut off all of the fully relaxed hair?I failed to measure it (with a ruler) but it must have been approximately 3 inches stretched. It was very fuzzy, kinky. It had a strange texture. Almost confused

Was it difficult dealing with the two textures? No real difficulty - I just BC! and I've been sporting a TWA since August 2005.

How did you wear your hair while transitioning? N/A

Do you have any pictures of your transition that you don't mind sharing? N/A... Sorry. But my avatar is very recent and is how I wear my hair daily.

I may add more question, but this is all I can think of right now[/QUOTE]
