Actually I have never thought about it. Though I Always use Distilled. Hmmmp????

Okay i emailed the company to ask if it was okay and here's the answer I got:
Hello MJ. It is not recommended. However, if you decide to use the
herbal water, empty the tank immediately after each use. That should help
the steamer to prolong its life. salonsRus Marc
