The back of my head is fine and when my hair was shorter twa stage it had no problem curling its about the size of 3c/4a curls now I am currently trying to defined my curls and that section which curled very easily like as soon as it came in contact with water now looks constantly blowdried even though I onlyairdry my hair. I have bought a denman brush(goody knock off) but it seems to lumps some of the curls and make everything else look frizzy so I am constantly forced to pick out my hair but I have noticed that I pick out my coils and so I want to go on a no comb/little comb challenge to help me retain length. Has anyone experience this and can someone help me define my curls I've been having a hard time with that, also am I not using my denman brush properly? Thx.
P.S. My hair is 4a/b

Bumping for you. My friend is natural and a way that she defines her curls is using gel (she likes the B5 gel by Aubrey Organics, I believe). I think she applies the gel to wet hair and it helps hold a curl. You could also twist with shea butter and when you do a twist out there should be more curl definition. Once again, I'm no expert on natural hair. Just wanted to help :).

Im having the same problem in the front of my head... I'm hoping to see some suggestions too! Oh and yah, when my hair was shorter in the front (about 2.5 to 3 inches) it curled like the back. Now it just looks like blow dried hair and i fork the back out to resemble it. My hair in the front is neck length...

By the way, what kind of denman brush are you using? I've heard that the D3 or D4 probably isn't the best to use for 4a hair. The bristles are spaced to closely together. The D31 or D41 is supposed to be pretty good for thick, curly, and/or corase hair. The D3 ripped my poor 4as to shreads. :nono:

Technique and the type of products used will have an affect on the final outcome of your hair. Here are some youtube videas that might help you out.

maybe u could do finger coils on the part that does not want to curl or u could do like some kind of corn rows or flat twist on the very front. well hope this helps ....:)

Have you tried a jilbere shower comb? That will reduce breakage, maybe you can try a combing it out with conditioner in the shower then doing WnGs?
