Re: Keeping Lngth & Healthier Hair: Wash Daily, Or Every 2 Weeks? Which is most effec

Given the choices and based on what I have read for the past year from long-haired ladies, I would wash every day. But I'd be mad about it..

I don't really have to comb my hair between washes, so maybe that's why I chose every day. The twisting stretches out the hair enough and my fingers keep it from getting unruly. My hair is not very tangly, and that's a surprise.

I might actually try this to see what the difference it makes in my growth. Not sure...:perplexed

Well I look at it this way. If I worked in an evnviorment that got me dusty/dirty from head to toe everyday, I would have no choice but to wash my hair everday. But if I was extremely inactive I probably would wait the two weeks. Considering I am active. I would rather wash it everyday with a mild shampoo and add oil to it or just co-wash then just increase my exercise days so that the sweaty scalp would compell me to wash. You could always just rinse the hair and condition.

I would have to go with daily due to my oily scalp/dandruff, and the fact that my hair would be more moist (as long as it wasn't over-shampooed). My hair would have to stay in a bun, though.

My 1 to 2 times a week is perfect for me. My ends get a little dry after a week. It could be a moisturizing/conditioning issue, though. I wash my son's hair daily.

1x per week is perfect for me. when i washed daily, i saw a lot of breakage around my ends. i wouldn't recommend daily washing for relaxed heads with fine hair, like me.

& by the 10 day mark my scalp starts to itch :nono:

so 7 days is a perfect medium to me.

once i'm natural i'll probably wash daily, though.

Given a choice, I'd have to wash every day. However, I'd only use shampoo twice a week and co-wash the other days.

Right now I wash/co-wash about 4x a week average anyway and my hair loves me for it.

2 weeks, easy--with one caveat: the hair must be braided or straightened, i.e. not in any style that could tangle, clump and mat (like a wash and go on my natural 3c curls).

Tangling and detangling are the enemies of my hair. I lose entire *cups* of non-shed hair a month from detangling this mass of curls that begin knotting within minutes of a wash-and-detangling session.

The evil Catch-22 is that I need to not wash and detangle as often to save on manipulation...and yet, the longer I go with a wash-and-go Scary Spice look (my only style in my repertoire), the more matted and locked and obscenely tangled it becomes.

The past two times I have straightened my hair (InStyler), I have kept the same style 2-3 weeks each without washing (occasionally brushed cornstarch and powders through it to freshen) and each time I finally went to wash it, I lost 1/4 of the amount of hair I normally do. My hair was happy.

I have never done plaits/cornrows because they are very unflattering on my face and ear shape. But I am considering making two simple plaits and piling them under a half wig and going for 2 weeks at a time.

My poor hair needs the break from tangling...AND detangling!

Daily for me with a gentle poo and moisturizing leave-in/conditioner as a leave-in and gentle finger detangling. I've unintentionally given up combs.

Hmm perhaps washing twice a week.Well, at least this regimen works for me. I cowash 2 times a week and do a hot oil treatment prior.

I'd never wash my hair every day. It's better for me to leave it alone.

hmmmm...i guess i have a two part answer. since my hair would actually be okay with either option, i'm basing my choice on my vanity.
if i want to be wearing my hair out, looking fly, i'd have to say every two weeks.
if i'm willing to wear a bun every day, i could do every day.
i'd rather the "fly", thanks for asking.
