K.I.S.S Challenge

I may not get many responses on this considering the recent explosion of hair challenges, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

This challenge is ideal for:

1. newbies who don't know where to start and who are overwhelmed with all the information about products and routines on the board

2. members who can't stick with a regimen because they've made it too labor intensive and just give up and/or want a simple regimen but are tempted by all the product reviews and need support

This challenge will only last until the end of the year.

Here are the rules

1. If you are interested, post your routine.
2. Styling should only take more than 5 minutes once a week.
3. No excessive products on the scalp only one. If you have a mix that you like to use on you're scalp you can use it.

Here's my K.I.S.S routine:

Daily:
Condition wash
Add leave-in
Gel and glaze mixed in hand (sometimes)
GO!

Weekly:
Shampoo
Condition/detangle
Deep Condition
Add leave-in
Style(if I feel like it)

My routine is very simple. Notice I'm not adding 50 million things to my scalp and hair everyday.

Is anyone with me? I'll challenge MYSELF if nobody is going to do this with me so don't feel like you have to join if you don't want to just so that my feelings won't be hurt.

Okay I'll join in with you, here goes my K.I.S.S routine:

Daily:
Condition washes with V05, Suave, White Rain, rinse out and apply EVOO or Grapeseed Oil. To syle I'll use alcohol-free gel

Weekly: Shampoo with CON (red label) and condition with NTM and detangle with wooden comb from "The Body Shop"
Deep Condition with Lekair (Aloe) - under hoded dryer
Leave-in would be EVOO

I like this challange and since finding out how good alcohol gel was I no longer use grease. I'm finding staples now and I will continue to stick with them.

This is such a great challange sillygurl18.:weird:

I've just started doing this and it is no longer a challenge for me. Believe me, once you get used to doing it this way, you will not want to go back. My routine is simple and now, I've simplified the products too...

Daily:
condition wash w/Elucence
Leave in conditioner mixed w/gel (kiss my face)
scrunch then wrap w/towel while dressing to soak up water

every 2 weeks:
Clarify w/shampoo
ACV
Deep condition

I gotta warn you ladies, you will not want to turn back to slavin over hair....that every 2 week deep conditioner hasn't been done for like...a month and counting.....oh well :D

Hey sillygurl18  I'd like to join this challenge :weird:

My K.I.S.S routine is:

Morning
Glycerine/Rose water mixed w/ water & Pepermint oil
It's a Black Thang Beeswax

Night
Grease scalp (All Ways Indian Hemp)

Weekly washing
Condtioner Wash: Mixture of V05 Oasis, honey, & EVOO

Deep Conditioning (every 3 weeks)
Hot Oil Treatments with Kemi Oyl or EVOO

 Hey Cinnabuns! What gel do you use? I use Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel with Sparkle Lites.

Hey there sillygurl18!

I just bought some cheap Suave no-alcohol mega hold gel and I just love it. It was on $1.33 at Albertson's. :)

I'm up for the KISS challenge, you are right on time sillygurl18!

My KISS routine
Evening:
Daily (or every other day) CO Wash with VO5 Con, rinse about 80% of con
Seal moisture with Carol's Daughter Hair Balm
Put in six mini puffs
Morning:
Take down puffs, spritz with water, seal with a little hair balm again, lightly comb, fluff and go.

Weekly:
Shampoo and Deep Condition under dryer for 15 to 20 minutes or 1 hour without heat
Detangle well
Seal moisture with Carol's Daughter Hair Balm
Put in six mini puffs (Might switch to rollersets in the winter)

Oh this challenge is definitely for me. Whenever I was my hair I swear it feels like I took the whole day to do eat. I usually start in the late morning and I don’t finish until the evening. That’s because I do a pre-poo treatments with oils and I let it sit for 2 hours then I shampoo and then I apply my breakage control serum the I deep condition for an hour then I roller set my hair which takes about another hour (I am working on getting faster on my roller sets ;) ) Then once my hair is set, I sit under the dryer for another hour and a half. Talk about exhausting! :( But today, I was so lazy so I did a shortcut to everything. And for the first time my hair had bounce and sheen AND I got compliments  (that meant sooo much to me because I was just about ready to give up on this hair thing). So this is my new K.I.S.S. routine for the rest of the year.

Wednesdays (Big Wash Day):
Shampoo w/ Elasta QP Bodifying shampoo
Rinse then apply Aphogee Evening Primrose Hot Oil Treatment
Rinse then apply ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Pack (<~~ a definite keeper :) ) and steam for 30 mins.
Rinse then apply Elasta QP H2 Leave- In Conditioner and roller set me hair. As I set my hair, apply Wild Growth Oil.
Sit under dryer for 45 mins.

Sundays:
Wet hair and apply any conditioner I have around that I want to get rid of.
Rinse and towel dry hair.
Apply WGO and braid hair or do china bumps (Bantu knots)

Now that I look at it, it may not sound like I am keeping it simple :ohwell: . But since I am used to taking the whole day to do my hair on big wash days, this routine is simple for me and it only took at the most 2 hours. cant get any simple-er than that! So count me in!

Just updating my routine. My hair cannot handle daily co-washes, starts shedding (maybe too much handling?, I don't know). So I'm going to try doing a co wash once mid-week instead and see how it goes. Btw, a monthly check-in sounds good to me.

My KISS routine:
Mid-week CO Wash with VO5 Con, rinse about 80% of con
Seal moisture with Carol's Daughter Hair Balm
Put in six mini puffs
Nightly spritz with water, seal moisture with Carol's Daughter Hair Balm
Put in six mini puffs
Morning:
Take down puffs, spritz with water, seal with a little hair balm again, lightly comb, fluff and go.

Weekly:
Shampoo and Deep Condition under dryer for 15 to 20 minutes or 1 hour without heat
Detangle well
Seal moisture with Carol's Daughter Hair Balm
Put in six mini puffs (Might switch to rollersets in the winter)

i dont really think co-washing daily is simple... that's a lot of manipulation, IMO.

Anyway, i don't think my regimen is that simple... what do you think?

- CoWash on Wednesday nights: Suave Humectant. Leave-in: Rusk Smoother, ORS olive oil on hair shaft, Mango butter on ends, detangle hair. Air-dry in a bun or loose. Oil scalp with Jojoba/Avocado oil once hair is dry. Wear plastic cap and satin scarf on hair at night.

-Wash hair on Saturday/Sundays: Pre-poo with EVOO, wash hair with Rusk Moist shampoo, light protein with Nutress, deep condition with Suave Humectant or Cholesterol (under the drier) . Nexxus Headress. Same methods as Wednesday.

-Daily: moisturize hair with ORS olive oil and moisturize ends with Elasta QP mango butter. Plastic cap on hair every night.

- Clarify once a month
-Aphogee treatment for damaged hair every 6 weeks
-Porosity control every 3 weeks
-Deep condition weekly from wks 6-12

During the week I use my conditioner as a moisturizer on my ends as needed and let the shower steam plump my twists back to life.

Once a month I deep condition with Loreal mega moisture conditioning treatment for chemically processed, dry hair. I was not impressed with this product on my transitiong hair but I love it on my natural hair.

co-wash with VO5 Tangerine tickle
StaSofFro gelas leave-in
Apply StaSofFro spray in the morning and off I go. :lachen:

Guess I'm in 'cuz I decided to keep things real simple. My hair seemed to grow when I ignored it. I'm trying something new by not washing or styling my hair often. My protective style is wigs and my head is always covered when I'm outside, so washing is actually becoming redundant. I'm keeping it in 8 cornrows for as long as possible, and only washing every 2 weeks.

Daily:
Baggie whole head about 3x a week
every 2nd day mtg on scalp
Spritz w/ mix of rosewater, castor oil etc. (optional/as needed)

(optional/as needed) Weekly:
Deep con w/ cholestral and/or Black castor oil

Every 2 weeks (yes 2 weeks):
(optional) prepoo w/ cocunut oil
poo with diluted Aveda Brillance
reconstruct w/ Aveda Curressence
deep con or steam with w/ cholestral and/or Black castor oil
partially rinse
add ntm leave in
Black castor oil on ends
cornrow back up again!
