Thanks sweetpeadst, miracle, poohbear, cinnabuns, so1913, leslie_c, onepraying, tru_mind, candicec, sbaker and senimoni!!!

I contribute my nape area growth to me being more aware of the different attention it needs. I don’t comb this portion of my hair with the rest, I always section if off and comb separately, and I also never comb it without applying a moisturizer first. I make sure that it never gets dry (along with the rest of my hair) because it will break off with the quickness.

I think another reason the nape area has grown so much is because I no longer relax every 6-8 weeks. I’m pretty sure that was taking a toll on my nape area with over-processing. So now I only relax when I feel it’s necessary…lately it’s been about every 8 months. (I went 9 months before and I just got a relaxer after going 7 months).

Finally, wearing braids gave my nape area a chance to catch up to the rest of my length. After taking out my braids I didn’t notice much overall length but the back definitely saw some improvements. I’m planning to get braids again in late May for 3 months and I’m crossing my fingers for some overall length improvements.

Great tips!
I used to wear braids & my laziness has stopped me from continuing.
I think I will go back & put them in to give my nape some time.
Thanks JenniferMD!!

Jen, what type of braids singles, micros, exactly what type! And your regimen please!!!!!!!!!!!!! Products?

Here are some comments she made in reply to comments in her "Snap Shots from the Past" album:

The salon I went to uses their own special silk fiber hair. It comes in one length and they have the rights to the hair. I paid between $300-350 for these braids, and they're called nubian twist. The salon I went to is called The Stress Free Zone.

I treat the braids like my own hair, moisturizing them everyday with scurl, caring for my scalp with african royal braid spray, shampooing every week and using leave-in conditioner.

There are more helpful comments in there! Check it out!!! ;)

What I seriously find most amazing is that thickness...amazing. I need thickness lessons for I am thickness impaired! *pout*

JenniferMD not only has beautiful hair but she gives really good repsonse throughout the forum. :)

Thanks ladies...and thanks to Poohbear and Star for posting my quotes.

My regiment now goes like this:

I breakdown my regiment into a 2 week pattern:

Week 1:

Go to dominican salon for a wash, condition and set. To keep my curly set up I use serum on my hair every night and pin curl my hair with bobby pins. (I find pin curls work better than convential roller with natural falling curls).
I don't use a comb at all this week. I style using my fingers, and I use no moisturizers this week only oil and serums.

Week 2:

Wash and condition my hair (I usually use NTM). I air dry 50% with it out with no products. Then I use a moisturizer and bun my hair for it to dry completely. I keep my hair in a bun for the next day or two but applying moisturizer to my hair every night. After two days I will either wear a wrap or do a braidout.

Week 3:

Repeat week 1

Week 4:

Repeat week 2

I relax my hair at least 4 months apart but lately I'm averaging 8 months. My staple products are: Soft Sheen's finishing lotion moisturizer, Soft Sheen's mega-hertz serum, Soft Sheen's Optimum oil therapy and Doo Gro hair growth stimulant oil.

Hey Jennifer. How many weeks post relaxer were you when you airdried your hair in that April 2005 pic??? How did you get your hair that straight after airdrying in a ponytail and avoid that ponytail holder imprint??? I posted this same question in your album. Can you give the step by step details please???

I want to know to!!!!!

Thanks for the compliments ladies...ya'll are putting a smile on my frown today :)

I was one week post relaxer in my April pictures. I let my hair air dry loose until it's about 50 % dry then I put it in a ponytail/bun with a moisturizer on the length until the rest is dry. When I'm ready to wear my hair straight, I take my hair out of the bun, apply moisturizer and oil and wrap my hair with tons of bobby pins holding everything down tightly and securing it with a satin scarf.

In the morning my hair is straight and I just add serum! The next time I wash my hair I'll take pictures of the process for you guys to see.
