The BSS up the street from me where I bought it said they will get the lavender one soon, I can't wait to go back and pick it up.
/QUOTE]

They're going to have lavendar now?!
Please let us know how this smells when you get it, because the scent was the only thing keeping me from trying it.

I really love this oil. My mom is hooked too. I recently finished my bottle with the old label and got the new label. Since there is no salt in the new version I tried it on my scalp ( I use to mix it with evco so it wouldn't itch) and I had no itching! ETA: I use this on the edges in the place of gel.

This is a great thread
Jbco is an lhcf staple that I've been sleeping on
I need to try it at some point

You should try it, regular castor oil did nothing for me so i pushed jbco to the side. But a friend sent me some to try and i have loved it every since (thanks idare).

I love JBCO and I have been using it for almost 3 years. As it is so thick I just mix a little bit with lighter oils and use these concoctions to seal after moisturising.

I absolutely adore it in my pre-poo treatments. Last night I did my light protein treatment with Aubrey Organics HSR, Organic Blackstrap Molasses, Raw Honey & JBCO. It leaves my hair feeling so soft. I just part my hair in 4 sections, apply the mixture and sit under the dryer for 30 minutes. If I’m doing a normal protein treatment, I will use Aubrey Organics GBP, Raw Honey & Black Castor oil.

Another thing I like is that a little goes a very long way. Even though I share my concoctions with friends and use it as a pre-poo treatment, one bottle will last me for ages. As I share my concoctions with friends I order a case of 12 each year from SAMS as I do not want to use old oils. I just share the extra bottles with others - it is definitely worth the shipping and customs charges to get this stuff.

It will last even longer now as since the summer I have been leaving my cornrows in for 4 weeks instead of just 2 so have been doing pre-poo treatments just once a month. I also often use it to moisturise my feet, especially the heels. One day I will also try it in my body butters

Please let us know how you like it. I found some info on lavender and it sounds like a good addition to the jbco. I might try out some myself.

I often add lavender or peppermint essential oil to my hair oil concoctions as they are growth stimulants. When I remember to do an ACV rinse, I add lavender and tea tree oils due to their antiseptic properties.

I have been using JBCO on my scalp and ends every 2-3 days, and my hair has changed for the better. I feel like it has helped me to retain more length by making my new growth easier to deal with. I also mix a dash with my DC. I plan on ordering the lavender scented version, because although I've gotten used to the smell I worry about people being able to smell it in my hair. This is definitely something I will always use .

I use it in my dd's hair every other day and i can't smell it. I just smell the shampoo i use on her hair. The lavendar one will be available at sams november 28th. They have if you preorder now you get $2.00 off. Im really thinking of getting some also.

I emailed them too to see if they are having a black friday sale, ill post in here if anyone responds.:yep:

Im sorry that happened to you, i know that ladies also love regular castor oil for softning and making the hair thicker. If jbco does not work for you, try just your regular castor oil to see how it does.

Thks,

So far so good using the diluted version. I itched a couple of times, but nothing like before, thank goodness. I put a little undiluted on top and my NG is thanking me. I am so glad I found this because I (like many others here) and trying to grow my hair and this is the one of the few things that has prevented my hair from breaking at the demarcation line. I even feel like I can go longer than the 12 weeks I was planning on, we'll see.

I wish you luck on your hair journey, we are here to help each other learn, motivate and grow.

Thats interesting you mentioned that. The first day I used it I noticed how strong the scent was and I tried my darndest to mask the odor. When I got on the train and sat inbetween two men the man on my right a couple of minutes later looked at me and then looked at my hair. I was so embarrassed I wish I could have disapeared . I was hoping and praying when I got back on the train that it was not crowded so I would not to deal with that again. When my 11 yo daughter came home I asked her to smell my hair and she said "it smells like smoke. LOL I have since then diluted my oils and added my own eo's to mask the smell.

Sorry this post was not intended for you. My computer glitched at that moment. But to make a comment. There have been a few other ladies that mentioned the smokey odor.

IA: I've found "da' smell":look: doesn't last long at all after it is applied.

Great product tho' And a Definite Must Have.

I airdried overnight in 4 twists and this morning I used organic virgin coconut oil and then applied a tiny bit of JBCO and my hair feels so soft. I used to do this on occasion ages ago and I forgot how soft it left my hair feeling

I got my hair cornrowed today and the girl said that my hair feels really soft and that I must have used something different. I will do this again in four weeks when I get my cornrows redone.

I do not mind the smell of JBCO but will try adding some organic lavender essential oil to a small sample of my JBCO

I'm going out to get some JBCO 2morrow ....hopefully this will work for my, I'm trying to keep my hair moisturized, even though it not over ly dry, I have to moisture it evey day to keep it like that....

for some reason I don't feel like I should be moisturizing my hair every day, 3 to 4 times a week is fine for me:rolleyes:

I add JBCO to regular detangling spray and it makes detangling my 5 year old's MBL hair tear free. :yep::up:

For my own hair I mix it with EMU Oil and I oil my scalp with it once a week. My hair is not only thicker but I'm thisclose to full APL. :yep::up:

I use the castor oil from old jamaican black castor oil...no problems with smells..

Sometimes i mix it with shampoos in winter.lalso mix it with conditioners (during a steam treatment)and deep conditioners, or mix it with regular castor oil and grapeseed and i might mix it emu oil too use on ends or to grease my scalp.

I also use the pomade to make my hair stay down.

I also mix it with hair gel.

I use regular castor and turbinado sugar or regular brown sugar as a body scrub.

From some of the past threads, ladies here have been buying from there for years. And i think there was a discount at some point. I don't think there is one anymore.

I think the discount code 2007 still applies except for a case of 12 JBCO which is the only thing I order. Typical

I think you get a 15% discount if you apply this code

Yes, I love JBCO! I use it when I seal my ends. I have not been using it lately b/c now I keep my hair in protective styles. However, JBCO is a keeper.
