I've Decided....

That...

1- I need to find my staples and decide on a regimen that is right FOR ME!
2- NO More Growth Aids. MT is a dream so that's it
3- Baggying and keeping my hair wet isn't necessary if my hair is properly moisturized.
4- Organic products hair been the best investment and have left my hair in the best shape.
5- Protect my ends without compromising my edges and nape.

Thanks

1. That my hair gets split ends seems like not matter what
2. To trim my hair more, thicker/healthier better than long and stringy
3. keep using Vatika oil and MTG-my hair likes the combo
4. go back to keeping it simple w/ weaves and my C &G method-if it aint broke don't fix it!!!

1. That I will stick with the K.I.S.S. method of hair care
2. That I don't NEED my stylist but I can pamper myself on occassion
3. That instead of being a PJ, I can allow myself one luxury (anything over $10 is luxury) item per month. Only products deemed necessary will become staples.
4. Stretching out my relaxers are good for me.
5. I will not self relax until I feel totally confident
6. Growth MUST come secondary to health
7. Not everything that works for some or even most will work for me

1.)Spring-Curly Rollersets
Summer-Braidouts
Fall-Rollerwraps
Winter-Rollerset, straight, in a bun

2.)Hair is super protein-sensitive.

3.)Lo-Mani is a LIFE SAVER.

4.)DC's weekly are good, but during summer cowashing season, isn't mandatory.

5.)I can wear my hair down and still retain length.

6.)Detangling dry for me is better than doing it wet.

I've been thinking about doing rollerwraps. How does your hair come out with those?

I agree with #5, especially in the summer. I love to feel my hair blowing in the wind.:lachen:

Great thread

I have decided that

1. I will be a self relaxer longer than I had planned to be
2. Fine hair, regardless of density needs consistent fortification
3. No trimming doesn't work for me
4. I will not be apl this year. I could probably make it but since health is my number one concern, I will keep trimming a little longer than I had expected
5. I will get my hair colored, I am not going to live in hair prison and not enjoy my hair
6. As much as I Don't like it, I need to airdry my rollersets more often
7. I need to go back to my 10mg Biotin, it made my hair thicker
8. Megatek/Ovation=strength, growth, happy hair days
9. My scalp CAN NOT do sulfates, Viva La Giovanni

I agree with the bolded.

I like this thread.

I've decided...

1.) to stick with the products that I know work for me and stop being such a P.J. I've given away most of the stuff I didn't use.
2.) to deep condition once or twice weekly
3.) to baby my ends and to stop playing in my hair so much; I try to help myself, but it's just so springy and curly sometimes I can't resist
4.) keep my regimen as relatively simple as possible
5.) start taking vitamins for overall health as well as hair growth and to start eating better
6.) to wear my hair in braids (w/o extensions) during the school months and to cleanse, moisturize, deep condition to keep the hair health and retain length during the cooler months
7.) to try to stop coming to this board so dang on much, because it can be slightly addicting :-)

I agree...I've gotten quite better with #7. :lachen:

1) update my fotki with more pics and variety
2) Do real protective styling which for me would be twists, braids, cornrows or a donout bun... i think my messy bun is doing more harm than good.
3) wear my hair in a ponytail less (hand in hand with #2)
4) wear my hair straight once a month, to do an extremely light dusting (its just too see through right now... i have to thicken up)
5) Do more with the ayurvedic things that are CLEARLY helping my hair!
6) learn new styles
7) stick to using the only growth aid that ever worked for me (lenzi's request)
8) stop being cheap lol and spend the xtra dollas on the butters that work for my hair (qhemetbiologics) and elasta qp

Ooh, I need to #6 too. :yep:

I do twist/braid outs or perm rod sets when I want to wear my hair out.

Oh, ok. I'm gonna try the rollerwraps soon.

Thanks

1. I need to stop playing in my hair and stretching my coils because it causes a knot EVERY time. And I also need to stop breaking the knots off of my hair after I create them. I've noticed I'm not alone in this problem.

2. My hair will be hidden in a weave consistently or else I will continue to cause breakage by playing in it (see #1).

3. I am committing to taking pictures of my hair so that I will actually be able to tell when I have progress.

4. No new products. I have what works for me and I need to just stick with it. I'm not a pj but it's still a waste of money to try new things when I know what I like and what works.

Great topic OP!

Thanks. I love doing #3. It helps me to see how the state of my hair has changed.

1. Not to stretch past 12 weeks.
2.I no longer have a midback length goal, will probably keep hair trimmed and at BSL
3.i will probably never learn to self relax or rollerset and i'm okay with that.
4. I still love long hair (midback, wsl, etc), love to look at fotkis with those lengths but I think APL and BSL is more versatile (for me)and I'm having so much fun with it. :yep:

I used to think the same thing years ago, but they saying that you can do anything you believe you can do is true; and also applies to hair. :lachen:

1. get rid of all the products i've bought (and there is A LOT)

2. stop buying so many products

3. stick to cheap conditioners, stop co-washing as much

4. accept that braid outs DO NOT work for me, and move on to some other style that works for me
5. stop having 2nd thoughts on going natural

6. leave my hair ALONE, stop touching it all the time

7. be patient

Yeah, that could be your motivation for trying different styles.

i've decided that...

1) i'm going to spend less money on products and not use as much (and also stop reading product reviews lol)
2) i'm going to stop watching and fiddling with my hair so much/very low manipulation
3) my hair thrives on protective styles and i will stay in them full time for at least another year.
4) i'm going to be more gentle and patient when i do my hair
5) i'm going to go get something to drink because i'm thirsty

1. I need to learn how to do bantu knot outs
2. I need to eat healthier
3. Stop setting deadlines for BSL, MBL, and WSL hair
4. I'm too broke and busy to co wash, I can just rinse with water and use a leave in conditioner
5. I need to stop spending too much time on LHCF
6. I don't have to fear the flat iron, but use responsibly
7. I will exercise, despite all the trouble with hair
8. 3 years in the future, I may stop being natural (I've been transitioning for 2 years) and self relax for the mere convience

Wow, I've gotten better with #5, and I feel you on #6. I've learned that recently. It caused a major setback for me. I'm learning to use it responsibly too. But I won't use it again, until I have as much info as possible.

1. I can't be cheap anymore about my touch-ups and must purchase my own perm system to bring to my stylist, b/c I refuse to have a 'super' strength relaxer placed in my hair again.

2. I need to exercise more and drink more water for my overall health and that of my hair.

3. To not put anything on my scalp b/c the less I put on it, the less it itches. Oh and to not put SLS anything on my scalp b/c after a month and a half of not using it, I've had a lot less itchies.

4. To stop being obsessed with my growth rate.

5. To learn how to do updos that don't consist of buns...Buns are boring, IMO.

6. Frequent washing (unless I have lots of NG) is not my friend...I just need to leave my hair alone.

7. To take better, more uniformed progress pics.

Wow, you're gonna be on point a year from now. I hope to be too. I want to start planning now for next summer. :yep:

I've decided that I hate buns and will only consistantly do protective styling in the winter.

I've decided that I like the look of neat ends so I will trim/dust as often as I see fit. It will just take me a little longer to get to my goal but when I get there my ends will look good.

I've decided that MBL is where I want to be and there is no need for me to try to get any longer.

I've decided that as much as I like rollersetting I will alternate the rollersets with air drying and switch to mostly airdrying in the winter months.

I've decided that I like doing my own touch ups even if my hair doesn't get bone straight. I'll keep the $65 in my pocket, thank you very much.

I love neat ends too. It's unbelievable how every month I'll start to trim my ends about every 2 weeks (about 4 weeks after a relaxer I start), and I still see growth. I love my hair to look nice and neat.

Ive decided to

wear my hair in an actual hair style so will get it shaped when i finish the c&g method in a few weeks

to not be afraid of my hair

What do you mean? Why were you afraid of your hair? You mean afraid to damage it?

  1. To use this last of OCT and focus on my health, vitamins, and minerals to give my hair that extra boost. No more growth aids. :nono:
  2. To wear braidouts alot more often. Candy_C was right! My hair feels much healthier braiding my hair at night. :yep:
  3. Not try any more new products for my hair and focus on getting my skin back in order. :yep:
  4. Stick to my regimen. If it aint broke dont fix it. :nono:
  5. To remain relaxed. I like my creamy crack and I dont wanna give up the addiction. :spinning:

I'm totally with on #5, I love my creamy crack too.

Oh, that reminds me, I have to try my braid out soon.

I like this thread too..

I decided:
1) To get getting a relaxer off of my brain. If I want to see myself with straight hair I'll pull out my flat iron.
2) As stated before stop pulling those darn knots. I seem to always pull the entire strand of hair out! BAD!!
3)Stop being a PJ. I'm too broke for that, end of story:look:
4)Feel more comfortable in my own skin and I think loving my natural hair more will follow. Mind, Body, and Soul...

Oh, I love #4. Yes, those three components all compliment each other. :yep:

1) never relax my hair again! My unrelaxed hair is so much healthier, thicker and prettier compared to my texlaxed ends! Who knew! I did not- been relaxing from age 13 and did not know my natural hair. I am now in love. I do not want that stuff in my hair ever again
2) eventually get rid of the few inches of relaxed ends I still have
3) sort out a way of washing my hair without getting so many knots
4) stop yanking out the knots
5) learn to detangle in a more gentle, patient manner
6) comb hair once a week - seemed impossible a few months back but I am now down to 2-3 times per week. I now detangle as needed with my hands.
7) stop jumping on so many bandwagons

I know right, they can be tempting.

1. Everything ain't for everybody.
2. I am going to focus on my body/health/financial/personal goals and let my hair do it's thing. Long hair does not a successful woman make.
3. I may not reach APL by May 09. I'm okay with that.
4. I may need to start having my touchups professionally done. The longer my hair gets, the harder it is for me to control where the relaxer goes.
5. Using rollers with clamps doesn't make me a roller setting loser.
6. It's gonna be okay. :)

So true...and yes it will. :yep:

what is creamy crack?

It's a relaxer.

I've decided
-That I'm going back to my little kid regimine--wash/condition and blowdry 2x a month, hard press every few weeks. Wear out for the first couple of days, then slap it in an updo. Now that I know how to use heat I will again.

-That a little grease on the ends never hurt nobody.

-Cowashes, bi-weekly washes, and rollersets aren't for me.

-That I need to give away a buckets worth of stuff that I've acquired during my bandwagon days-Bhrinrajib oils, powders, and crazy tonics don't do me no good.

I decided :

1. I will not try to stretch my relaxers. I wish I could but I cant. When I do my hair suffers tremendously. I need to relax my hair every 8 weeks unless I'm in braids. Thats just how it is . I'm ok with it.

2. I will only wash and DC every 7 days. Sometimes I may even go 10 days. Frankly I dont have the time or patience to do it more frequently and I dont think it's necessary for my hair. I will stop feeling like a failure because I am unable to wash my hair 3-4 time a week.

3. I will get my wig game back up and wear them as a protective style throughout the winter. I will treat my new wigs with respect and store them properly. They will not wind up on the closet floor as they have so often in the past.

4. I will not neglect my hair underneath the wig. I will keep it braided and well moisturized.

I agree with #1. I am :lachen::lachen:at #3!! :lachen:

1. I've learned that simple is better for me.

2. That sticking to my regular(good old fashioned) products does wonders for my hair.

3. That there is nothing wrong with me cornrowing and wearing wigs, although my hair is long.

4. I have realized that being lazy with my hair has help it grow faster.

Good points Chavas.

I've decided to...........

1. To stop dwelling on what my hair could have been had I taken better care of it in the past and to focus on doing the right thing now.

2. To accept the fact that I'm going to have to completely stop blow drying and hot curling if I want to meet my hair goals.

3. That rollersetting and air drying are the only ways for me to infuse moisture into my hair and keep my delicate ends healthy.

4. To spend more time and less money on my hair.

5. To accept the fact that even if I do make it to WSL I still won't be completely satisfied, b/c my true heart's desire is Tail Bone.

You'll see a world of difference in your hair with #3 & #4.

that..

1. I will have to really be disciplined in bunning my hair regularly/95% of the time.
2. I will need to save up money for a Pibbs/blow dryer for rollersets.
3. My wet buns won't be able to work for the winter months.
4. To stay disciplined in using Bee Mine every other day throughout the fall/winter months.
5. Heat really isnt my enemy.

So true, it really isn't. :nono:

I wish you the best, be patient, it takes time.

Yes, #5 is so important.

1. that I can't and will not deal with single strand knots
2. that cowashing daily and wearing my hair curly causes more damage for my hair
3. that rollersetting and flatironing my roots every 1-2 weeks is the best for me right now.
4. that if my hair loses its curl from being "heat damaged", I will be totally fine, as long as I retain length and thickness.
5. that I have to moisturize and seal daily in order to have soft and moist hair.
6. that I'm gonna do what I want with my hair as long as me and my hair are happy!

ive decided to

1. stop being lazy about moisturizing my hair
2. curb my "hands in hair" disease that i suffer from when im past 8 weeks post
3. step up my "kiss" reggie with more co-washing & deep conditioning weekly
4. finally realize that if i want to get past bsl i have to seriously wear protective styles.
5. give my hair a much needed rest i finally have that soft blingin almost blunt cut hair
that ive been longing for and its time to preserve it.
6. still find that "holy grail" hair staple be it moisturizer or conditioner even if i have to
make it myself
7. put away the brush and purchase a denman to detangle my hair
8. stop being so undecided and buy a digicam so i can finally give you ladies sum
updates.
9. last but not least stop being a scaredy cat and be more interactive on the hair board
i absolutely love the way the members get along with each other on the board i feel
so left out sometimes... my words go unheard but not anymore i plan to put my
questions to good use............

Amen!!! You have such beautiful hair; I would love to hear more of how you take care of it! You have a lot to contribute, so please don't let fear hold you back. :yep: :D

Good one! I've been a member of this board for several years and don't post much, so I'm trying to change that too :) Also...

1. To not max out my credit card buying hair products (okay I'm exaggerating but I seriously need to stop buying so much stuff.)
2. To help me with #1, I can only buy something new when I use up or toss something old.
3. Start buying natural/eco-friendly products unless its a true staple.
4. Accept that my hair can't handle permanent hair color/highlights, it's so pretty on so many people, but my hair suffers way too much. It's not worth the setbacks, so henna/indigo only for me.
5. Take my vitamins and treat my body good! Healthy me means healthier hair.

1. To realize that the kiss method I've been using this past summer works.
2. To realize that I will no longer jump on any and every bandwagon, no matter how tempting it is.
3. To realize that ponytail holders are not my friend.

I've decided.........

1) I haven't got much patience for rollersetting:nono:

2) I don't have to spend a ton of money on hair care products to have great hair.

3) It's my hair and I'll do what I damn will please with it (even though my SO is getting sick of the protective styles)

4) That no matter how much I want my hair to grow longer, being impatient isn't going to solve anything. It only creates stress and worries which, in turn, have a negative and damaging effect on the body, thus affecting hair growth.

5) That I love my hair no matter what. I love my texture, and my length, even if it doesn't grow longer. It's beautiful and it's all mine!!

1. that I can't and will not deal with single strand knots
2. that cowashing daily and wearing my hair curly causes more damage for my hair
3. that rollersetting and flatironing my roots every 1-2 weeks is the best for me right now.
4. that if my hair loses its curl from being "heat damaged", I will be totally fine, as long as I retain length and thickness.

6. that I'm gonna do what I want with my hair as long as me and my hair are happy!

Hi, NB, you might wanna be careful. If your hair ends up damaged, it will be harder to retain length; the damaged hair will break off eventually. Also, your styles won't look so pretty with straight unhealthy ends, and the rest is pretty and curly. Please be careful with the heat.

1. To be more patient with my hair
2. To be more consistance with a regimin.
3. To stop comparing my hair to others ( If my hair doesn't grow as fast ,that's OK).
4. Get off of a growth schedule. I will not beat myself up if it is not hanging to my butt
by July 2009.

1. i need to protective style for at least 10 months out of the year instead of 4-6 until i get to my goal length (so my fotki is going to get real empty and real boring).

2. in order to get my hair to look good at this length, too much manipulation is required.

3. i now have to start washing in sections (i'm sitting here detangling damp hair and it's tangled up like a b!).

4. i'm excited about my hair getting longer but i'm not looking forward to the detangling sessions and other maintenance issues :perplexed

1. To stop being lazy and stay consitent w/ my regimen

2. To stop being a PJ(not everything works for everyone and it wasn't helping my pockets) and use products that I know works

3. To start back wetwrapping and trying to do rollersets

4. Airdrying and then combing my ends was a huge setback for my ends=thin ends

5. Regular trimmings/dustings are good and keeps the ends thick and the splits away.

6. Heat is really not that bad(unless you use it everyday) It can be your bestest friend.

7. To focus on healthy hair and not longer hair. As long as your hair is health I believe it will flourish:)

I decided :

1. I will not try to stretch my relaxers. I wish I could but I cant. When I do my hair suffers tremendously. I need to relax my hair every 8 weeks unless I'm in braids. Thats just how it is . I'm ok with it.

4. I will not neglect my hair underneath the wig. I will keep it braided and well moisturized.

OMG! Puddinpop! Are you in my head/hair or what?! You have hit mines right on the head!

I'll add...

5. I will up my documentation of how a product affects my hair so that I know what works and don't work and not go off of memory.

6. I will start using my heating cap more with my DCs at for no longer then 30mins. Peak conditioning happens at 25-30mins...no overnight stuff.

7. No co-washing for me unless I really have time to. If not conditioners will be used as a leave-in which works great for me.

8. I will stick to Biotin and no other vitamins - I don't break out and I eat enough things to supplement it with B vitamins.

9. To increase my water intake.

10. To grease/oil my scalp! Yes, I said it...greasing it up! It worked when our mothers did it when we were young and it works now. It keeps the new growth soft.

11. To straighten my hair more often unless I just don't want to but not because I'm scared of heat. Heat is not the enemy. I just need a better flat iron so that I don't need to take so many swipes to get it straight.

12. To be patient with my hair - If I'm only doing it once a week then that is low manipulation enough.

13. To go back where it all started at for me...Crown & Glory Technique. Everything else is for the time in btwn braids.

14. To not compare my hair to others and just know that I have thin hair, period the end.

1. Keeping my hair in braids has been my best decision so far. My hair has been thriving.
2. The best DC is a concoction of many different conditioners, a bit of vegetable oil (olive, etc.) and a splash of honey! :)
3. My hair does not really need protein. In fact I am starting to think my hair hates protein.
4. Not to be a PJ anymore. I have stuck to the same hair products since beginning of this year and have hardly bought anything new except to restock.

1.) To TIE MY HAIR UP @ NIGHT!!!
2.) To stop flat ironing dirty and/or dry hair (and w/o using a heat protectant too :nono:)
3.) To moisturize my hair and seal it and see if I notice a difference
4.) To find a SIMPLE regimine/products that work for me and stick with it...
5.) To self relax and not use super strength
6.) To give an honest effort to grow my hair
7.) To LEARN HOW TO USE MY CARUSO ROLLER SET:whyme:
8.) To Start a fotki
9.) Stop coming to LHCF so often (sometimes 8-12x a day!!!:look:)
10.)Not to give up!!!

that i have wear my hair up until it get longer. and i have to wear braids every winter to have hair for the summer lol cause my hair hate the WINTER AIR AND COLD
