Is wrapping your hair at nite good or bad?

I plan to wrap for the first 4 weeks after a touch-up and high pony the second 4 weeks. Less stress on the hair, trying to wrap new growth is no joke. I touch-up every eight weeks.

That's a good system. I may have to do that too

I've been wrapping my hair for like a year and half and I've always wrapped it in one direction. The other day I posted a thread about how one side of my hair seemed to be healthier (thicker, more even ends) than the other half and now I know why:yay: . I'm gonna start rotating my wrap every day now too... I love this friggin' site! I've learned so much stuff about my hair in the few weeks since I joined

I've started wrapping my hair starting with a "back side part" like I saw on YouTube...that is, instead of starting with a "front side part" you part it in the back (yes, lean forward), that stopped alot of my flyaways while my front breaka...ahem, i mean layers grew in and it is still the method I prefer. The other day however I noticed I had started wrapping my hair and laying my silk scarf RIGHT on my edges!!! Like an idiot, everytime I would roll over while sleeping BAM!! So now I tie it "Aunt Jemima Style" and it sits more like a bonnet then a tight scarf...I think of all the things this site has taught me, it's to stop being so "extra-extra"---extra oil, extra tight, extra straight etc! So I just keep that in mind when I am tempted to tie it tight. Also, I wrap without pins most of the time, but I do START with the crown, that gives a better wrap for me and also allows me to only have to give my edges 1 pass with the comb or brush.

So, in short:
1) I like wrapping, for me it can actually protect my edges better than say, regularly sleeping with a ponytail
2) I tie my scarf Aunt Jemima Style
3) I start with a "back side part" and then rotate from the crown.

If I'm going for something different (curly or something) I pin curl.

ALSO, I once realized that I heavily favor my RIGHT side when sleeping, so now I have to keep that in check!!!!

Tip for the right side edges: If your edges are short, comb them down (and put them behind the ear), but lay the wrapped hair how you normally do. That way the weaker hair isn't vulnerable. Working so far so good for me.
