Is weighing down the hair bad for it, oil etc?

I, for years had been in the habit of a couple of days after wash, totally weighing it down with serums which I'd thought gave it moisture but boy was I wrong, I have stopped doing that and instead sometimes overuse oil and end up being unable to wear hair loose becuz its too flat,, I was wondering how many of you oil every nite? do u just oil the ends or the entire length and how much do u use? When i wear my hair straight I oil only the ends if they feel dry and i also try to brush my scalp oil down the length

I don't think that it is bad for my hair to layer on product because I wear my hair in a baggie 99.9% of the time. If I wore my hair out it would be disgusting.

I think for wearing your hair down less product is better. If my hair is up I like to slather it with product, baggy it and go about my day...I haven't noticed any adverse effects from this...in fact I have noticed that my hair health has improved greatly.

I think it also helps that I clean my hair often and I clarify when needed.

Can I be the the Vice President??? This is me ALL DAY. My ponytailed/protective styled hair is hella greasy and I likey!!!! it just doesn't feel right with my protective styled/ponytailed hair not greasy!

But my flat ironed/down hair has to be flowing. I won't get greasy with that.

if it is..oh well,
because I am the Queen of weighing my hair down. I Love the weigh down look and will not stop doin it, it has done wonders for my hair once I started usin many leave ins and oils

Sylver Mizani Poohbear... you all have Enviable hair so if you ladies are "liberal with moisture" then it must be a good thing!!!:D

I am having this same problem. I moisturize and oil my hair daily and it gets very weighted down. I feel like if I don't do this though my hair will suffer, especially the ends. I try to concentrate on them the most but my hair still gets very weighted down and looks thinner/less full. I love how it is after I first flat iron but it dosen't stay that way long. I usually end up wearing my hair in a ponytail anyway.
