Is this scab hair?

I'm 10 weeks in this picture, uncomb NG looks really coily. Can you please give me your opinion? I have just taken down my baggie bun and was really fascinated by my hair. The front of my hair is in the third picture which is a whole different texture. :spinning:

Thanks in advance.

Please don't throw tomatoes at me coz this is foreign territory for me, but I have only heard of scab hair w/r/t people who just BC'd. Apparently after you BC relaxed hair, your hair feels kinda strange for a while and doesn't really behave like your real hair will. I guess you can refer to new growth as "scab hair" per the definition below but really when people talk of scab hair, I always imagine difficult hair that behaves oddly and feels hard and rough and sticks out...usually after relaxed hair has been cut off. Not soft, curly or wavy. Hair that is not exactly how the person's true texture will be. IIRC, some people will BC after transitioning and then still have to deal with a patch of hair that isn't uniform or behaving as they expected. I've never really dug deep to grasp this phenomenon coz my tiny head can only process info that is useful to me, and since I'm not relaxed....

According to Motowngirl:

Scab hair [is the] hair directly underneath the scalp that has been affected by the hash chemicals. Even though the hair is newgrowth it isn't "trained" to behave in it's natural state. The hair is still sort of straight, very dry and brittle. It usually takes somewhere around 6 months to completely grow out. Not eveyone experiences scab hair. The longer a person was relaxed the more likely they are to be affected.

Oooh...ignore everything I just posted. I found an LHCF thread on scab hair so OP you might be right. I shall now tiptoe out of thread before I get hurt discussing stuff I know nuffin about. On second thoughts, I'ma jet outta here coz I see tomatoes headed my way.

 it's okay, all opinions are benefitical because I was just curious myself. I'm not transitioning but just wanted to get other members imput. If I was to stretch for 4 to 6 months than I guess I can get a better assessment of my texture.

I love to see people's hair coil up like yours did OP. It looks so pretty! Mine are just deep waves. When I went natural I had scab hair. It was hard and rough. Once I cut that off my hair was nice and soft.

ETA:But you're not going natural anyway. I see that now.

I heart your NG!!! It's beautimous! Mine is a little weird right now... I have some coils, some waves, and some....uh.... half curled humps

IMHO....NOPE! :nono: It's plain ol' African textured hair. (Full disclosure...I don't buy into the "scab hair" thing)

Mine is doing the EXACT same thing!! My last relaxer was in September, and the ng in the front part is wavy, while the back of my head is a bunch of shrunken coils. I think it's because I can comb through the front better than the back, so it starts wrapping around itself.

Cool, Op, I have a picture like that too! I have a part of my head that looks exactly like that about 8 weeks post. My cousins were fascinated by that area and took a pic. I should look for that pic.
I wish we didn't have different textures all over our head, it's just really strange.

Btw, I also think people tend to exaggerate the whole scab hair thing. If it happens, I don't think it happens that often.

ETA: OP, I sent you the pic.

OP, when you cut your hair there maybe a chance that you end up cutting that 1/2 inch of scab hair anyway so I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you BC and some ends look weird/raggedy you can always do a dusting or trim to get rid of the scab hair.

Pretty hair, btw!
