Is There a Product of Comparable Quality to Sebastian Colourshines?

Ok ya'll, I know that many of us are sad to hear that this product won't be available anymore. I am really upset because the coffee bean makes my hair look and feel so thick and healthy, it actually makes it look like I added some tracks to my head.
I would like to know if any of you know of any other products that would give the same type of result, and are also just as safe to use on hair as the Colourshines are. I don't want to permanantly color my hair I just want something that will give the same "umph" as my beloved coffee bean Colourshine.
Any suggestions???:perplexed

I would like to know this also. I've heard in the past about Prizms (this may also be discontinued) and then there's Clairol jazzin. I dont like this as much, but will use if there is nothing else.:)

I've tried the Jazzin a looong time ago. Maybe I'll give it another try. I would really like to have more info on the dominican cellophane that JenniferMD said she used. I'll have to peep her Fokti again. Anyone else have any suggestions for us???

I really like Colorshowers (that is the dominican cellophane). I tried the black one, which was cool but the red one just made my hair GREAT!

My BSS that sells Colorurshines is selling Matrix and the girl said it is just as good but I have yet to try it since I am in love with Colorshowers.

ETA - I don't know about y'all but Jazzin' dries my hair OUT! I have used it since high school but the formula must've changed these few years. hair is dry and no shine.

Thanks for sharing, i'm gonna wanna try colorshowers soon. I know that it is ammonia and peroxide free, but what about alcohol? Do you have the ingredients?

Can anyone who uses cellophone rinse post relaxer identify where the cellophane comes in, and your conditioning process? How long does the rinse last?

Hmm...I don't believe it has alcohol in it. I don't have a bottle on me but I will probably get a bottle this weekend to "refresh" the red. Will let ya know! :yep:

I did a whole thread on it...

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=137473

Steps that I did -

Base
Relax
rinse relaxer
Cellophane (I followed the directions but I rememeber being under the dryer and then letting it simmer for another few mins)
Rinsed Cellophane
Conditioner for like 5 mins in the dryer (didnt want color to fade)
Rinsed that out, then used a rinse (12 en 1) and rinsed in cold water.

I CW a few times a week so my color is fading and I am refreshing it this weekend.

HTH

After applying the cellophane and sitting under they dryer with it I shampoo 1x as it says on the bottle of Sebastian's then I condition my hair.

They last about 4-6 weeks or so for me.

I have been using John Freida's Luminous Color Glaze in Brillliant Brunette. It says use it a minimum of 3 times a week for 3 minutes each time but I since I don't wash my hair 3 times a week I sit under the dryer for about 5-10 minutes when I put it on. Before I started using this about a month ago, my hair was never as shiny as I wanted it to be.

The downside is there are not that many color choices (red, brunette, blond and clear) but it only between $8 and $10 :yep:

here are the ingredients to the colorshowers

Dionized water,citric acid,salt,sellosize,melil and benzoalo sodium,quaternium 60,proplene glycol,
red ponceuax #4,red amarant#2, blue#1 blue#2 yellow#5 yellow#6

I have ginger so the dye colors on the bottom vary by bottle of course but the ingredients should be the same

thanks, most appreciated.

Has anyone written to Sebastian to ask them if they will re-introduce it, or create a replacement? Maybe if they knew how much we loved it, they would bring it back.

Also, maybe they discontinued it due to poor sales. I think it was marketed towards caucasians, who would prefer (and their hair can better handle) permanents and demi's. Maybe if they considered marketing the product towards AA's, it would do better, being that most AA's who are relaxed can't/won't double process, and naturals may not want any chemicals.

Just a thought... :ohwell:

I'm really sad that I've just run out of my colourshines. I used to call it my weave in a bottle. I haven't yet found anything that replaces it. It made my hair color so rich and shiney. Gave my fine hair some life. Oh well, back to reality.

They BETTER replace it w/smthg. Jazzing is too drying and it doesn't come in too many nice shades. I'm afraid to try colorshowers b/c so far all the conditioners made in the DR dry my hair out. I'm not a big fan of Miss Key's products. :(

Matrix Prisms-Plus is a great alternative to Sebastians. I used it with great results..im using it again tomorrow :yep:
