Is the \"Scrunched Look\" even possible?

Hi ladies! I really want to try scrunching my hair but before I go out and purchase all the styling aids needed to do it I'm wondering if my hair even has the ability to do it. I had a corrective relaxer (back when I was naive and stupid), so my hair has little to no wave pattern when airdried. So is scrunching even possible? Thanks for reading!

Oh I've also noticed that if I pin my hair up while wet that it does get wavy as opposed to letting it airdry hanging loosely. Does that make a difference in the scrunching process?

yes, pinning the hair up helps for me. I pin it up with a "claw clip" for a little while then take it out and scrunch with fingers. Scrunching makes the difference for me and I scrunch with the blow dryer on a very low or cool setting to help, so it won't be soaking wet.

Scrunching on almost bone-straight relaxed hair doesn't work. I've tried it and just ended up with a very slight wave and way too many tangles to make it worth it.

When I used to scrunch(I'm natural now)I used a texture product on my hair before I scrunched it...like Dep Texturizing Gel(I know its bad),John Frieda Beach Blond Sea Water,or John Frieda Relax Ripple effects, you'll need to add a product to create texture b4 you scrunch.

tangles? well i think the risk outweighs the benefit. I think i'll leave this to the non-bone straight ladies!

It does not work too well on bone straight hair. The pieces of my hair that are bone straight would just hang limp. Not cute at all.

But gathering hair and pinning it does help add some waviness to it.
