I just bought a "got2bsosmooth" soy protein deep conditioning treatment pack and I was wondering is protein good for our hair?

Protein is good in moderation (like everything else in life.)Too much protein, from what I understand, is definitely bad. Too much depends on your hair.....

You just have to find out how much and how often your hair needs/wants and possibly what kind of protein.

Let us know how your hair likes it. You should aso cinsider following up the protein treatment with a moisturizing conditioner.

thanks. I got my hair cut yesterday ( bad relaxer) and I am actually looking forward to a new start. Also since my hair grows pretty fast i am not worried about it. It is in an ear length layer bob. It is so thick and full. I am going to start alot more conditioning treatments so it will grow back ultra healthy.

protein is good, however, it should always be followed with a moisturizing conditioner. Most protein conditioners contain animal protein which tends to make the hair hard and dry, this why you would want to use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards.
I have just discovered Elucence's extended moisture repair treatment. It is a protein conditioner but it uses wheat proteins so my hair is extremel soft after using it, but my hair is also extremely strong after wards. I am tempted to give up the Aphogee 6 week treatment all together because the Elucecence works so well.

bump, I can't really add more, the replies here were excellent.

My hair really LOVES protein, especially since I got these highlights....so I do a protein treatment once per week. I think you have to find the balance that works for your hair.

And I follow up with a moisturizing conditioner also as was suggested here.

hmmm... this is good to know. i was wondering why some protein conditioners make the hair hard and some don't. for instance, the GPB is made of milk protein i think, and it leaves my hair really soft.

Yea, the type of protein defintely makes a difference. I think I've had the best luck with soy, wheat, oat and silk. Oat is supposed to be especially good because it actually seals damage in the hair shaft. And, yes, the lactalbumin in that GPB is extremely softening and strengthening to the hair. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I love the GOT2B2SOSMOOTH. I am on my second tub. Protein helps strengthen hair and help it hold moisture. It also helps repair damage. The problem with protein is using too much which can make hair brittle and dry. I have found that generally whenever I have a problem with the hardness it comes from conditioners that use alot of animal protien. The got2be is really great and I use it once a week. I follow mine with a moisturizing treatment just to be on the safe side for 20 mintues. Try keracare humecto afterwards and it makes your hair feel like silk.
