Is my natural hair APL?

Hey ladies,

I have natural 4b hair and I have been natural for about 3 1/2 years. I had a relaxer for many, many years but it finally caught up with me so I had to let it go. It has been a long process, some rough times and a lot of money spent on prods trying to find what works best for me and my hair.

It has just been this past year where I think I found what works. That is basically keeping it simple.

This past weekend I wanted to see how much my hair has grown so I flat-ironed a piece and I was very surprised at how long it's gotten. My hair is longer , stronger and thicker than it's ever been.

So , I'm asking is my hair SL or APL? I don't even know how I feel about the lenghth thing but every woman wants her hair to flourish and be healthy. I think I'm just proud of my progress and just want to show it.

Forgive the blurry pic, and also the flabby arm, I also have just lost 50lbs. This pic showed me I have to work on that

Congrats MsDeevee!

It looks like you are past APL by a good 2 inches and well on your way to BSL. Keep up the great work with your hair and body!

Care to share any of your hair and fitness tips?

Thanx so much ladies for your responses. I am proud of my progress and of the fact that I love my natural hair. I really do.

It's not easy but it's worth it.

CurlDiva...Lisa Nicole is your hair and chest twin? you're a fortunate girl :yep: What ever happened to her?

Well as far as the hair I have found it best to leave it alone. It prolly would be much longer if I took the time and care that some of you ladies do. I learned from Derrick Scurry (natural hair stylist) to only fully wash my hair type 1x a month. I do rinse in btwn. When I do that I band it. I also love Miss Jessies curly buttercreme when I do 2 strand twists and I try to leave them in about 2 weeks during that time I wear them up or in a ponytail and then I do a twist out for a week or so and I do not comb my hair to style. I finger style only.

When it's time to detangle and comb it out I use a mixture in a spray bottle of Surge Plus 14 hair revitalizer and Infusium 23 leave-in along with the C&G afro detangler. I just separate small sections with my fingers spray the solution on and start to comb out in the C&G method. That's really all I do and that really saves my hair. Also no heat styling, that's why it was a surprise to flat iron that bit and find that my hair had grown so.

As far as the diet I was homebound because of an injury so I took that opportunity to do the low-carb thing for fear of getting even bigger from inactivity .

Thanx again ladies

Thank you all for being so kind. Gave me my second wind to keep on going on my hair journey.

I really appreciate it.

the hair in my nape reaches armpit
but the rest of my hair is only shoulder - collarbone
it's uneven...but i'm going to let it grow out more before cutting
