dreams of APL hair

Hi everyone,
I am new here and I have learnt so much just reading over the last month. I would like my hair to grow to APL right now I am a little bit past shoulders. Is it possible to grow my hair that long by summer? has anyone grown their hair that much in that short period of time? I welcome any and all opinions

Well take in consideration that the average persons hair will grow 1/2 per month. If you measure where you are now and you protect your ends from breakage and do not trim your ends, you should be able to add some length to your hair. I am not sure if you are natural or relaxed, but I can usually get an estimate on my growth by each relaxer. I hope that this was helpful.:)

Welcome Red!

There is a 6-month Armpit growth challenge underway, so reaching your goal by summer is POSSIBLE!

My best advice is to use the "search" feature to learn more about setting up a solid routine and any hair issues that you may be having - LHCF is a community of people willing to HELP!

Good luck and keep growing!

welcome!!!!! I cannot be sure if your hair will get to APL or not, but since you are already past your shoulders it is a possibility!!!

I believe it is possible for you to reach apl by summer. With the right products, good regimen, and protective styling. You should be apl by summer but you have to stay determined and not give up and when you don't feel like deep conditioning your hair or moisturizing you are going to have to do it anyway....determination, dedication, and dreaming will get ya there:lol: ;)

ETA: Once your hair gets past your shoulders, you need to start wearing protective styles/updos so your hair will not brush against your clothes....

Excellent advice. Nothing comes easy, so until you get to APL, entertain yourself with the idea of playing in your APL hair by the summer. If you dream it, you can conceive it.

Welcome to the board! APL is my goal, too. But I have to get to shoulder length first :P

I agree!!!! Follow this closely and post pics! ;)
BTW, welcome!!!! Happy Hair growing!

 welcome

Getting past shoulder length seems to be the biggest hurdle. And you have made it!! Now, I would suggest you start moisturizing your ends at least twice a day and begin deep moisturizingheat treatments weekly to retain as much of your growth as possible.

Bests!

Welcome aboard!:D

I agree...making it to shoulder is definately hard. It's the phase when you're dealing with repairing damage and finding your regimen. So you've made it past the hardest part! I'm in that phase now and it's difficult. I look forward to making it past shoulder and having moved beyond the problems I'm having now. Yet, there is tons of wonderful advice here from ladies who have been there done that before. Seems like no matter what your current hair concern there is someone on the board that's experienced it and has wonderful advice. So welcome to the family!

Welcome
I too am in the same boat as you. I am trying to make it to APL by summer. I am currently about 2ins away with tons of NG in there. I think you can make it if you are already past the shoulders. I hear that it is the toughest goal to reach with all of the hair lost cuz it rubs. I think if you protective style or at least do a little less than normal you should get there. the best thing is to measure andmap out a plan

I like this thread because I am stuck at shoulder length!! but I long for APL by July... only time will tell if I reach it;) . I am just staying consistent with my regimine and am hoping for the best!!

I definitely think it's possible, especially since you're already past shoulder length.:yep: As the other ladies have mentioned, the main goal is to protect your ends so that you retain length.

My hair is just brushing my shoulders, and I hope to reach APL by this fall. That's about 4 inches. I really think I can do it!:) I've been doing protective styles since before I even joined LHCF (I didn't realize the benefits, though), so I'm pretty used to keeping my ends up and out of the way.

Keep the faith and you're in good company! I'm trying to live the dream of APL too. On average I'm shoulder length, I'm transitioning as well and have been triming the relaxed ends off every couple of months. My goal is to be APL by summer, but it may just be a dream...and the fall may be more realistic.
