Is it really necessary to moisturize daily?

I have a colleague who has beyond bra strap length hair who does NOTHING to her relaxed hair except wrap it at night and put a dime size amount of oil on her hair once a week. So my question is, is it really necessary to moisturize daily?

I started out moisturizing everyday. When I achieved the level of moisture my hair needed by doing prepoos, using moisturizing poos and cond., hot oil treatments and deep conditioners. I now only moisturize once or twice a week, if that. However, I am watching my hairs' condition at the same time. Certain times of the year and certain conditions may cause my hair to be dryer. Therefore, I can up my moisturizing.

It basically, depends on the condition of YOUR hair.

yeah I do think it depends on your hair. everyone requires different care. I do think moisturizing everyday is beneficial in keeping healthy hair. IMO

There was a period of time when I didn't moisturize my hair everyday. My hair still grew and retained length. Now I moisturize everyday for the benefit of my ends and roots, especially the new growth.

Depends on the season for me. If it's summer I really don't have to moisturize as much, maybe about once or twice a week. But during the fall and especially the winter I must moisturize every day or every other day so my hair does not dry out. I really does depend on the individual.

I am in agree ment with simplycee! My hair would be so ugly if I didn't moisturize at least once a day.If not it would be broke off city!

I agree, it depends on the condition of your hair. If I do a good deep conditioning I don't have to moisturize for a few days but other than that I do it every day.

Normally, for me it's not necessary to moisturize everyday as long as I continue doing my conditoner washes. I can do once or twice a week. But... since I texturize, as I get closer to touch up time (4 months for me) I have to moisturize almost daily to handle the two textures.

I seem to need moisture everyday. My hair gets so dry. The baggie is working very well for my ends

Not if it isn't dry imo. My sister oils it 1x/week and her hair is soft all week. I on the other hand have to do it about 2-3x/week. It al depends on your hair.

The question is it really necessary for YOU to moisturize daily? Every person is different. I only moisturize once a week because I keep my hair braided up this time of year. When I take the cornrows out, my hair is as moist as the day it was done.

I think if a person uses a lot of styling tools and their hair is exposed to the elements more, then they may need more moisture.

My hair is always up so I just let down my bun every other day, but I spritz a very very light spray of moisture all over my hair before I tie down for the night.Bonjour

I don't know if it's necessary for me to moisturize everyday, but I really enjoy spritzing  lol

I recently used filtered water for my spritz mix and incorporated EVOO as a sealant. Oooo chile my hair feels good and moisturized, even these ends. Now I just need to find out if it's the filtered water or the EVOO.

I apply WGHO to my edges at night and NTM Serum to the rest of my hair twice a day, but that's it. I use more moisturizers when I'm 9 or more weeks post...mainly to handle the new growth better and prevent breakage. My hair is shiny and soft...I wear it up everyday 'cept the weekends, though so it doesn't have time to dry out by my wearing it out all the time.
